Looking for some things to do near Medieval Times Dallas? Click to view our full listing of bookable activities in Dallas!

What is the surrounding area like?

Located beside the city's design district, Medieval Times Dallas is near to several hotels and fine dining restaurants. Culture's in no short supply either. The most ardent of art lovers can test their resolve against endless galleries, antique shops and design spaces.

What are the 'must do' things in Dallas?

Dallas Museum of Art

An afternoon could be spent witnessing the vast mix of paintings and decorative arts here, from pre-Columbian to contemporary European. Top tip? Bring your walking shoes for the five floors.

Sixth Floor Museum

Based in downtown, this museum takes a detailed look at JFK's assassination: both the event itself and the political climate of the '60s. Entry costs $16.

Reunion Tower

Alternatively, you could spend your $16 on a trip up this famous landmark. The 50-story tower inspires flashing cameras with a 360 degree view of the 'Big D'.

Where are the best places to eat lunch or brunch near Medieval Times?

Bridge Bistro

This urban bistro starts weekends right with creative brunches like country fried quails with creamy gravy, and French toast with a cup of fruit and agave nectar. It's a fairly upmarket kind of place - just take a look at the Koi fish pond.

Riverside Grill

Locals crowd into this casual eatery for generous servings of comfort food and friendly service. Think eggs on toast, fruit juice and the fluffiest pancakes this side of Dallas.

Ascension Coffee

Generally the word 'coffee' in a name suggests a good, strong brew. Ascension upholds this theory. Perk up with your morning joe, accompanied by some poached eggs, ricotta hotcakes and maybe even a cheeky mimosa.

What events take place in the city?

One of the most famous events is the State Fair of Texas, an annual festival that shows off the rich culture, music and - of course - barbecued meats of the Lone Star State.

What's the best way to get to Medieval Times?

From downtown Dallas, head northwest past the Design District to N. Stemmons. Using public transport? Medieval Times is less than a mile from Market Center station which is connected by the Green and Orange lines. Or the number 27 bus from downtown.

What can people expect in terms of food and drink?

To get pretty messy. In the interests of historical accuracy, no knives and forks are allowed for the four-course banquet which includes tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, herb-basted potatoes and whatever 'pastry of the Castle' is. Vegetarians can feast on alternative bellytimber by alerting the town crier (i.e. speaking to staff in advance).

Is there any parking?

Certainly: cars and carriages can be parked with no silver crossing palms.

What time do doors normally open?

75 minutes before the show begins. Visiting knights and maidens are encouraged to arrive early for the first come, first served seating.

Any other info people might want to know?

Apparently jousting, falconry and horsemanship aren't quite enough. Visitors can tear it up 12th century style with a Hall of Arms featuring medieval artefacts and a torture museum (what every Friday night needs?), along with a bar and dance floor.

Had a really good time. The food was great, staff was excellent, and the atmosphere was fun. Bought 3 drinks for myself and 2 children, and paid $42, so it is kinda pricey - but we got to take the glasses home as souvenirs. Loved the show it was great. Would do this again!

It was the best experience yet. We have gone at least 5 other times to various castles but this was the best to date. The staff was very courteous and friendly and went out of their way to make our experience the best it could be. I will be visiting again. A little expensive but well worth it.

Liked: Great.
