Looking for some things to do near Discovery Park Sacramento? Click to view our full listing of bookable activities in Sacramento!

What's the surrounding area like?

Discovery Park is about a 10-minute drive from downtown Sacramento. There are plenty of places to swim here, and though you won't see the same kind of hubbub that you'll find downtown, you'll still find restaurants and a few other attractions and amenities nearby.

How can I spend the day in Sacramento before heading to a concert?

California State Railroad Museum

The history of the rail system isn't just about trains; it's about the radical remaking of the American landscape. Explore a real Pullman sleeping car, a fully set dining car, and interactive displays in over 100,000 square feet of exhibition space. If you're there in November and December, you can even ride the Polar Express straight to the North Pole. This museum is 7 minutes from the venue by car.

Crocker Art Museum

Housed partially in an old Italianate mansion and partially in a stunning modern pavilion, the Crocker Art Museum is itself a work of art. Peruse the halls of African, European, Asian and American Art, or take in one of their world-class rotating exhibitions. This museum is 6 minutes from the venue by car.

California Automobile Museum

The car is an integral part of Californian culture. Explore classic cars from every age, and picture yourself behind the wheel of your very own Model T. This museum is 8 minutes from the venue by car.

California State Indian Museum

The California State Indian Museum tells the important (and unfortunately, often glossed over) history of the state's local, largely reduced Native American populations. From traditional baskets to beadwork, this hidden gem of a museum will both educate and move you. It's right next to the larger Sutter's Fort, so make sure to stop in there afterwards. This museum is 10 minutes from the venue by car.

Where are the best places to eat and drink near Discovery Park Sacramento?

Grange Restaurant and Bar

Dining at this downtown eatery feels as good as it tastes at the farm to table Grange Restaurant and Bar. Stop in before or after a show for a glass of wine and to taste everything from fresh scallops to half of a chicken, all locally sourced and prepared to taste. Grange Restaurant and Bar is a 7 minute drive from the venue.

Indo Café

At the Indo Café, you'll taste spices you didn't even know existed. As the only Indonesian restaurant in the region, you'll find yourself trying every soup, rice dish, or piece of stuffed fried dough before you go. Stop into this downtown eatery before taking the 10 minute drive to the venue.

Brianna's Mexican Food

If you're travelling from the airport, Brianna's Mexican food is an authentic and affordable choice. Try the beans, and tuck into those warm enchiladas to fortify you for the night ahead.

The venue was excellent! I'd love to see more concerts in the park.

Liked: The stage set up made it easy to get the bands out on stage without all the equipment changes.
Disliked: Some sound issues.

, Murrieta, CA Tue, 17 September 2013

Loved the venue and the way the stages were set up. The only complaint is the structured bathrooms were down. The port-a-pottie's were disgusting (which I know based on the amount of people, but it would have been nice to have an option). Maybe have hand sanitizer's around the park. Overall, great venue and we will definitely be back! Oh and have more places for energy drinks (since it was sponsored by Monster - they only had one place) ;)

Liked: Excellent.
Disliked: Port-a-potties.

This was the best venue for the Monster Aftershock Festival! Loved the two big stages being next to each other so we could alternate viewing the bands so easily. Smart putting the restroom facilities in the shade and having so many and cleaning them/restocking them. Thanks for having lockers available. Terrific vendors, and plenty of them. Well-organized event. LOVED loved loved the bands! Great choices. Can't wait to see what you have in store next year.

Pleasant - 3 out of 5

, Lemoore, CA Sat, 8 September 2012

I launched at the Discovery Park for the first time and I was highly disappointed. It cost me $10 to launch my boat. At home, it's $4 and San Diego charges $0. Many fishermen launch and catch salmon, but there's no place to clean your catch, like most Central CA lakes and reservoirs. Lots of homeless people = lots of theft from unattended vehicles. Don't leave anything in the bed of your truck or it'll be gone. Why can't I launch before sun-up? Park hours were odd. I'll go back, only because of the salmon fishing and limited choices of boat launches.

Liked: It's on the river.
Disliked: No fish cleaning station; high launch costs; high theft; doesn't open early enough.
