What is the surrounding area like?

Don't get your hopes up for finding a bar or restaurant in the immediate area. However, if you're prepared to walk 20 minutes you'll be rewarded with Jacksonville Landing, a restaurant and shopping complex nestled around the horseshoe-shaped riverfront.

What are the 'must do' things in Jacksonville?

Skyway monorail

Ride high above the city on this elevated monorail that glides through the center of the downtown area. The forking track will either take you across the Acosta Bridge to the buzzing Southbank area or westwards over to the prime Osborne Convention Center.

Southbank Riverwalk

Travelling along the south side of the St John's River, this 1.2 mile boardwalk makes for a scenic stroll, complete with views of the city's skyline. Look out for Jacksonville's regular fireworks displays, too.

Jacksonville Beach

More than four miles of golden beach stretch out along the coast. You'll most likely meet a range of characters, from the surfer to families enjoying a day building castles. Best of all, it's only a  30-minute drive away.

Where are the best places to eat near Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena?

American Grill

The smell of hearty pot pies will welcome you through the doors at this Jacksonville Landing restaurant. Take in views of the river as you get stuck into some good American cooking.

Ruth's Chris Steak House

Granted, this restaurant is 30 minutes' walk across the river. But what if we told you that each steak was cooked on a 500 degree plate for that melt-in-your-mouth taste? And don't forget the sides either. There's the sweet potato casserole, fresh asparagus, and spinach au gratin. Oh and an award-winning wine list.

Burrito Gallery

Local art and music surrounds diners at this fun eatery, where food is prepared fresh daily. Chomp on a dish such as the crispy tortilla bowl filled with mixed greens, gallery chili, cheese, fresh salsa and vinaigrette. Maybe even throw in some steak as well.

What's the best way to get to Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena?

We'd recommend driving by car or hitching with a friend. It's generally an easy drive but be aware that traffic can bottleneck around the various bridge crossings over the St. John's River, so allow a little extra time. Directions are here.

What can people expect in terms of food and drink?

Mostly your classic fare, but hey, we're happy with that. Think hot dogs (around $5), popcorn ($6) and nachos ($5), plus soft drinks ($5) for that sugar (or sugar free) fix.

Is there parking?

Yep, there's plenty of parking so you can usually just roll up on the day - here's a map of the various parking lots. Prices vary for each event, but you can expect to pay around $10-15.

What time do doors normally open?

An hour beforehand.

Any other information visitors should know?

No large signs can be taken in, which kind of makes sense as you're not allowed large bags or backpacks either. All the more seating room for your snacks, eh? And please leave your selfie sticks at home unless you want the majority of your snaps to feature you being chased by a guard.

Overall great experience, my brother, sister and my niece came to the basketball games with me, and it was enjoyable.

Liked: Good place to visit!
Disliked: Area under construction; not knowing the area, at all, GPS in the car didn't pick up the detours. Feel as though the planning committee missed out on that one. Parking was 30 bucks, but was in a good location and town seemed nice.

Nice show; clean facility; a bit of a back up with the staff directing people to seats, but not really that bad. A good venue for concerts.

Liked: Small arena; good seats, even back in 107.
Disliked: Lines to get down the aisle.

Our second time there - we will go back again.

Liked: The manager on duty there worked to resolve our problems and we were both still able to see.
Disliked: There was some type of confusion with Ticketmaster.
