Although much of the nightlife is found in the downtown area is a five-minute drive away, there are still a few restaurants and hotels near Greensboro Coliseum.
Greensboro Science Center
Arguably science in its best form: the kind that speeds about in front of your eyes. This center has a winning combination of aquarium, zoo and interactive area with pneumatic tubes and slides. The zoo features a rare type of gibbon, along with a petting area with sheep and goats. For around $12.50 you get a good afternoon's worth and there's a café for that coffee afterwards.
Ghost and Vampire Tours
Feel that breath down your neck? Well it might just be the person leading this walking tour. 'Nightmare Around Elm Street' journeys around many spooky haunts including the Carolina Theatre and Blandwood Mansion. Bring comfy shoes and maybe some garlic.
The Bog Garden at Benjamin Park
Take a stroll along the elevated boardwalk of this botanic garden, discovering the wealth of plants and wildlife that love its wetland ecosystem. The nature reserve is free and open until sunset year-round.
Sticks & Stones Clay Oven Pizzeria
Go easy on Mother Nature at this eco-friendly restaurant. The menu is flavored with local ingredients including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised hogs.
Lindley Filling Station
Mini crab cakes, pulled pork bruschetta, a grilled salmon salad with goat cheese and basil poppy seed dressing… This eatery does more than just fill you up, boasting an outdoor seating area and tasty Sunday brunch, just a mile away from the venue.
Hops Burger Bar
Open until midnight most evenings, Hops cooks its hand-pressed burgers on a hot flat-top grill for extra flavor. Sit down with a craft beer and burger such as the spicy goat or the pickleback with fried onions and bourbon-marinated pickles.
913 Whiskey Bar and Southern Kitchen
Working inside a rustic interior, a talented mixologist creates whisky cocktails while diners choose from a menu of southern specials like seasoned catfish fillets and buttermilk-fried oysters in a lemon tartar sauce.
The Coliseum is located three miles west of downtown Greensboro, on West Gate City Boulevard. If driving from Charlotte, take the I-85 north to Coliseum Boulevard. Top tip? Make sure you know which part of the venue you're heading for - it's a big place with a few different buildings including the Main Arena, Special Events Center Hall, Aquatic Center and War Memorial Auditorium. Here's a map to help you get around.
Visitors can tuck into a few options, most of them the fast food variety served in a bucket or bun. Like how about a Philly cheesesteak or some chicken strips with fries? A devilish muffin or Danish pastry for after? Look out for well-loved names like Hot Dog Nation, Tournament Town Grille and Authentic Philly.
As for drinks, there'll be plenty of sodas to give that sugar-rush, plus beers and daiquiris at select events.
(Sadly, sandwiches from home aren't allowed.)
Between $5 and $20, depending on the event (bring cash). Although there's no pre-paid parking up for grabs right now, the 6,000 available spots should be enough to get everyone sorted.
If you're after a cab home, head for Lee Street in front of the Coliseum, adjacent to the Club parking lot.
