Liked: The artist.
Great view, concert was so much fun. Perfect venue, sound, and lighting. Awesome show!
Liked: Plenty of bathroom stalls and portapotties! Didn't have to wait long.

Worst venue I've ever been to. Had to park and walk from 2 miles away. Venue was way oversold - should have capped ticket sales at least 5000 less than were sold. Worst concert experience I've had in close to 20 years.
Great venue! M3 was amazing - it was my first year and I will definitely return next year!
Liked: Beautiful; clean; friendly staff.
The venue is great. Never an issue parking. Easy in and easy out. Food is above average for a venue. Alcoholic drinks worth the money. Facilities were as clean as to be expected.
Liked: Adequate parking. Easy to find. Clean and beautiful.

I attended the 2012 Spirit Festival and while you can not blame the host of the concert for the mediocrity of the talent, you certainly can hold them to blame for the sound. In general, folks attend concerts because you delight in the boom and vibration of music. Well, Merriweather fell short in providing the needed push of volume to fully appreciate the acts. They also lost points on the parking and lack of shuttle service from the alternative suggested parking.
Disliked: Sound; alternative parking.
Maria, Purdys NY
Liked: Nice venue in park like setting. Parking is free and organized.
Disliked: Bathrooms need attention.
Merriweather Post Pavilion is located within the 40 acre Symphony Woods so you can expect beautiful, green views. The venue is within walking distance of Columbia's Town Center area.
If you're going to be spending the day in Columbia before your concert, here are a few ways you might want to pass the time.
Lake Kittamaqundi is for those looking for a day of tranquillity. You can stroll or cycle around this gorgeous lake or head to one of five restaurants overlooking it. The views are to die for.
Earth Treks Climbing Center
If you prefer your daytime entertainment a little more high adrenalin then why not spend an afternoon at Earth Treks Climbing Center? A day pass is just $20 and you can rent all the gear you'll need for $11.
The Mall in Columbia
Shopaholics rejoice. There are enough stores in the Mall in Columbia to keep you shopping for several hours (or until your arms drop off). There are literally hundreds of stores and a varied food court means you could easily spend a day here.
The Ale House Columbia
Combine a menu with filling meals and a long list of ales and draft beers. That's the Ale House Columbia. With over 50 craft beers to choose from this is not one for the indecisive.
Sushi Sono is an online reviewers' favorite. Offering up awesome quality Japanese food, traditional interior decor, and exceptional views across Lake Kittamaqundi, it's not difficult to see why it is so popular here.
This is a little further out at just over 6 miles from the venue but it's worth a visit for those of you who love Indian food. Consistently praised by reviewers, the curries and traditional Indian flavors available here are hard to beat.
Columbia gets more rain than the US national average. So you'd be well advised to pack an umbrella just in case. Unless, of course, you don't mind a slight soaking!
You can get to Merriweather Post Pavilion by train. You'll need to take AMTRAK to BWI airport and then the Howard Transit train to the Columbia Mall. You'll be able to walk from there.
Many visitors drive and the venue is conveniently located just off Route 29.
There is a range of food and drink available on-site but you can also bring your own food. Food stalls are spread out through across the venue, selling hot dogs, pretzels, corn-on-the-cob, and tortillas; the full menu is available here. You can't bring your own alcohol however. Food and drink are expensive: expect to pay upwards of $10 for a beer.
There is plenty of parking on-site at Merriweather Post Pavilion and, as long as you're early, getting parked should be hassle free. If you're early enough and have the option to do so, park near the exit. Getting out after the concert has finished can take a while. Being parked close to the exit is a real benefit.
On-site parking at Merriweather Post Pavilion will cost you around $8.
For most concerts at Merriweather Post Pavilion, gates will open 90 minutes prior to the event starting.
This is an outdoor venue with a "rain or shine," policy and very limited cover. In other words, you may get wet. Bring an umbrella.
