It was clean and nice but just tell me about construction and room changes up front

Liked: Rooms were big, spacious and clean. Overall quiet floors of the hotel. Neighborhood was very quiet.
Disliked: The floor we were on is under renovation, its a big construction mess - literally with like tools out and an empty hallway with materials all over. It didnt affect our room, our room was very clean and quiet but I wish at check in I would have been warned about that because its a bit jarring to get lost walking down empty room hallways. Also, booked a king - arrived at 6pm and told they only had double bed rooms left. Like how does that happen? Check in counter also didnt tell me about that room change. All these things are fine, I just feel jilted nobody just gave me a simple heads up what was happening I had to discover and inquire about everything myself.
