Its bright, airy interior and lush seasonal patio make it a stylish stop whether you're grabbing a quick bite before the show or lingering for a romantic dinner.

Why Concert-goers love it

Sassafraz is not only conveniently located near downtown Toronto’s top live music spots, it also offers fast, attentive service—perfect for those on a tight pre-show schedule. The menu is diverse but focused, making it easy to order something delicious without a long wait. The restaurant’s energetic but not too noisy vibe means you can enjoy conversation without shouting over the table, even on a busy night.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a classy meet-up spot before a concert
  • Solo travelers wanting a touch of elegance with their pre-show meal
  • Couples planning a romantic night out with dinner and music

What People Say

Guests rave about the beautiful decor, seasonal ingredients, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. The bar program gets high marks for creative cocktails, and many reviewers mention the restaurant’s excellent location for pairing with a night out in the city. The duck confit poutine and seared scallops are frequently praised, and the patio is a standout during warmer months.

Areas for Improvement

Some diners note that prices can be on the higher side, especially at dinner, so it's worth checking the menu in advance. On busy nights, service may slow slightly, but most guests still find the experience well worth it.

We went to dinner at Sassafraz before going to the theatre. Our waiter was prompt and very pleasant. He went out of his way to ensure everything was to our liking. There were four people in our group and each of us had something different. The presentation of each entree was lovely. Everyone raved about the meal. Empty plates were quickly removed by staff and the ambience was absolutely beautiful. Washrooms were very clean.

Liked: The service and food was amazing. We had a wonderful evening.
Disliked: Nothing.
