Wheatsheaf Baslow by Marston's Inns

First time we stayed here. Lovely hotel. We stayed in room 5 which was one of the larger rooms. It had a bath and shower. Booked in online, so we were given the keys on arrival and was shown up to our room. After returning from our visit to Chatsworth House, which was only 5 minutes away, we booked a meal for 6:30pm. The food was delicious and the staff very helpful and polite. Breakfast was extra as we did not book that online, but there were 3 - 4 different prices to choose from.

Liked: Area; room; food and staff were all excellent.
Disliked: The weather.

Country hospitality done right

Liked: This place is a little treasure. The staff are lovely and really chatty and interesting. The food is great, rooms are comfortable. You can walk to Chatsworth House across the fields which is how Jane Austen would have done it (beautiful!).
Disliked: It is on the main road, and my room was at the front. But actually it was not as loud as I thought it might be! I only woke up once.

Liked: The Wheatseaf is a nice traditional pub in a lovely village. Staff are very professional, courteous and friendly. The room was large and comfortable.
