Baymont by Wyndham Cookeville, Cookeville

Great hotel that sits far enough off the road where traffic noise is at a minimal. Very clean room that DID NOT have that typical musty smell that even most higher end hotels have. Loved the small semi private balconies with sliding glass doors for sitting outside. Great view of the mountains, and the price was much less than others that could not offer all that. The staff was friendly and helpful. The one downside was the super bright light on the patio that could not be blocked by the light dampening curtains. I woke several times thinking it was full daylight which made for a not so restful night. Those lights need an off switch and the stay would have been great and this would have been a 5 star review. I will stay here again, but really hope that someone from the hotel sees this and does something about the overly bright lights.

Liked: Hotel room was very clean; staff was friendly and helpful. I have a hang up about non smoking rooms still smelling as if someone had smoked there, or at least smelling musty. This was not a problem, the room smelled clean. Excellent view and I loved the small semi private balconies with chairs for sitting outside.
Disliked: This is usually the bad for most hotels, but this is the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. The light on the private balcony was so bright that I woke at numerous times thinking it was morning already. Yes there are room darkening curtains, but they do not hug the wall/window enough to block the light.

Clean and comfortable but I...

Liked: Breakfast was adequate. I would prefer protein such as hard boiled eggs and there were none here. Beds were comfortable but TV wouldn't work and we had to call for help and they did come within 15 mins and fixed it. Room was comfortable.
Disliked: Check in was "blah" as the young lady showed little emotion and seemed skilled but bored. Her directions to the entrance were bad and it took us awhile to get into the building.

Absolute Gem for the Money

Liked: Extremely pleased with this stay. Greeted promptly and politely by staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Bed was a notch up for similar hotels in this price range. The little porch with a view was an added plus. The hotel is old with a lot of history but the rooms were updated. The hotel was convenient to the interstate but set far enough back that noise was not a factor. There is a mexican restaurant within walking distance that made for a nice evening after a long drive .
Disliked: Some areas are dated but still clean. Breakfast is limited but since so many hotels have not returned to any breakfast, I am grateful for what they had. Basically, Waffles and yogurt and pastries. Overall, an A plus for the money.
