The Spotlight on The Vermont Hotel

Classic Style Meets Concert-Ready Convenience in Newcastle

Nestled right next to The Castle and overlooking Newcastle Cathedral, The Vermont Hotel is a 4-star independent gem with a Manhattan-style flair. Just a 5-minute walk from the city’s main shopping district and lively nightlife, it puts you in prime position for concerts, clubs, and culture. With free Wi-Fi, on-site parking, and sweeping views of the Tyne and Millennium Bridges, this hotel blends old-world charm with modern comfort.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel’s location is a dream for music lovers—within easy walking distance of major venues and just 0.3 miles from Newcastle Rail Station. The direct access to the buzzing Quayside means post-concert food and drinks are just steps away. After the show, unwind in peace thanks to the hotel's quiet, classic atmosphere—ideal for winding down without the post-gig chaos. Plus, the 15:00 check-in gives you time to settle in before heading out, and the 11:00 check-out means you won’t have to rush the morning after.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish, central base
  • Solo travelers attending must-see gigs
  • Couples planning a romantic concert weekend
  • Fans who want a calm, comfortable space to recharge
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate free parking and Wi-Fi

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Maven Restaurant serves up stunning Tyne Bridge views with its meals, perfect for dinner before a show or brunch after a long night. The cozy Redwood Bar offers a relaxed vibe with a fireplace and comfy seating—great for a nightcap. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the mini-bar and in-room tea and coffee keep things convenient. And with the Quayside’s eateries just a stroll away, late-night bites are always an option.

Nightlife Options

You’re steps away from Newcastle’s famous nightlife scene, with bars, clubs, and lounges lining the nearby streets. Whether you want to keep the party going or sip local craft cocktails in a quieter spot, you’ll find plenty of post-show options. The Vermont’s own bar makes for a perfect low-key hangout if staying in is more your style.

What People Say

Guests love the central location, classic decor, and river views. Many praise the friendly service and the elegant vibe, noting it's a great place to relax after an energetic night out. The free parking is a major plus in the city centre, and the proximity to the train station gets high marks for convenience.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers mention that the decor, while charming, feels a bit dated in places. If you’re looking for ultra-modern interiors, this might not be your first pick. Also, while the location is quiet, soundproofing could be improved in a few rooms if you're a light sleeper.

The Bottom Line

With its unbeatable location, historic charm, and concert-friendly perks, The Vermont Hotel is a smart and stylish choice for music fans visiting Newcastle.

Won't be back

Liked: The location
Disliked: Booked the executive suite,(1105) thought it would be a nice upgrade as it was my wife’s birthday. When we got to the room, there was music from above that was quite loud. When we called the reception, we were told we were in a catch-22 situation, nice room but comes with the noise from the bar above. She was surprised that we had not been notified about this situation prior to our booking/arrival, which we had not.Coming back to the room later that night, (music on) put the TV on, the post from the bed smacking front of the TV. Can’t believe somebody hasn’t said this. Following morning the breakfast which was delivered to the room was overall pretty disappointing. Food was cold, sausage was rock hard and bacon, presentation of the omelette was ridiculous. I think somebody must’ve dropped it on the plate from about 2 feet. No cups, had to clean the ones in the room for our coffee. The coffee cups don’t fit under the Nespresso machine, no salt and pepper, certainly not what I would’ve expected from an executive suite, the whole experience was a letdown.I did finally get a small refund back for the state which took nearly 2 months and a lot of emails
