The Spotlight on The Rumi

Chill Out in Koreatown at The Rumi

Modern, minimalist, and budget-friendly, The Rumi is a cozy hostel-style stay located in the heart of Koreatown, Los Angeles. With a relaxed, communal vibe and thoughtful amenities like free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and a shared kitchen, it's a great base for travelers who want comfort without blowing their concert budget.

Why Concert-goers love it

Situated in vibrant Koreatown, The Rumi is just a quick ride away from major LA music venues like The Wiltern and The Hollywood Palladium. After a loud night out, you'll appreciate the quiet, smoke-free environment. Flexible check-in from 1:00 PM and an 11:00 AM check-out give you a little breathing room before and after your show. Public transport and rideshare access are readily available—ideal for late-night returns.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share a fun, affordable space
  • Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list show
  • Couples planning a low-key music weekend
  • Fans seeking a quiet place to crash post-concert
  • Budget-conscious music fans who'd rather spend on experiences than accommodations

Food and Drink Options

While The Rumi doesn't have an on-site restaurant, it features a communal kitchen where you can whip up meals any time. Plus, being in Koreatown means you're surrounded by late-night dining options, from Korean BBQ to taco joints. Breakfast spots and coffee shops are just a short walk away—perfect after a late show.

Nightlife Options

You're in one of LA’s most energetic neighborhoods, with karaoke bars, lounges, and live-music venues all within walking distance. While The Rumi itself doesn’t offer live entertainment or a bar, you won’t have to go far to find a buzz.

What People Say

Guests love the cleanliness, reliable Wi-Fi, and friendly vibe. Many mention its excellent location for exploring LA on a budget and the sense of community that comes from the hostel’s shared spaces. The quiet atmosphere is a big plus after a noisy night out.

Areas for Improvement

The Rumi is hostel-style, so you won't find private luxury here—no on-site bar or room service. Some guests note that the shared kitchen can get busy during peak hours, and street noise may be noticeable depending on your room.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a clean, affordable, and well-located stay close to LA’s top music venues, The Rumi is a solid pick for concert-goers who want simplicity and comfort without the frills.

VERY DISAPPOINTING

Liked: Only the fact that there is a kitchen, very small area, but somewhat useful when not so crowded. Very lousy cooking pots and pans. Ready to be trashed.
Disliked: MANAGEMENT. Twice, I tried to do the right thing during my two stays, one back in May, and my very least one in September, instead I ended up being the bad guy. Using the video cameras against me, without examining the context of each incident. They rather side with the VOLUNTEERS, as they call themselves. I could keep on writing a lot more; but whether it will help or not, I have no idea.

Well-organized and well-kept hostel for...

Liked: Convenient location with several shops around and next to metro station and bus stops for the most popular directions. (Almost) direct connection with the airport. 15 minutes' walk from Hollywood. Enough bathrooms to avoid waiting, reliable WiFi. All the necessary kitchen facilities, outdoor tables/benches and patio to hang out and eat in the open air. Quiet, more or less clean (for LA) district. Clear and timely pre-arrival instructions. NB! They will ask for compulsory registration the day before, do not miss the e-mail.
Disliked: Rooms are rather small and packed-up, so do not forget your earplugs (you might have a snoring roommate).

House of poet

Liked: Toilet in the room clean up every day, the space for luggage separate from bedroom is very good idea for guests packing, free breakfast
Disliked: Living room and kitchen is in the same area too small for many guests, there were many homeless at metro station but one block after crossing street is feel safe
