Sure Hotel by Best Western Aberdeen

Holiday inn express Aberdeen Chapel...

Liked: The staff were fantastic, everyone went about with a smile on their face. Friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of cooked and cold food. Choice of soft or firm pillows was good.
Disliked: The bed was very soft, and had a problem with roll together. The shower curtain needs to be longer to contain the splashing on the wet room floor.

Liked: Sure by Best Western, changed our booking and placed us with another hotel that was supposed to be equal to what we had booked with them.We were moved to the Holiday Inn Express.There was nothing to like. This review may be about the HIE, but since Sure by Best Western made this arrangement, I feel it should reflect badly on them.
Disliked: Upon arrival, we discovered the car park had only space for 8 cars, and as you can imagine, all spaces were used. There's not much anyone can do about that. Had to opt for very expensive nearby parking where our car got damaged.At check-in, we gave our name, and we were greeted with 'oh, you're one of that lot'. Referring to Sure by Best Western guests.The receptionist demanded extra payment, which we refused to pay. We told them to bill Sure. Then they demanded our credit card. We asked why and were told it was in case we caused any damage.Again, refused.Eventually, we got our room key. We found the door was open as the lock was damaged. We reported this and were told they were already aware. The door needed a good slam to close properly.The room was reasonably clean. Bedding was clean, bathroom clean, decent towels, and toiletries, but mugs were filthy. We immediately put on heating as the room was bitter cold. Took a while to warm up. The bathroom was all tiled flooring, making it even colder than the room. No heating in the bathroom. The shower was good, though. Plenty hot water, powerful and flows hot immediately.Discovered after my shower that water leaks out cubicle.Bed was not comfortable, but the bedding was clean. The lighting is not the greatest in the room.View from the window was a brick wall.In the morning we were up at 5 am to go to our appointment. No breakfast is available until 7.30 am.Also, it felt really bad having to slam our bedroom door that early in the morning. Disturbing other guests with loud banging at that time.We arrived back at 9pm for our second night to find the cleaner had changed towels, made bed (still dirty mugs), and left the door open.Thankfully, we never left anything of great value in the room. We had a quick check, and then I went to reception to complain. This time, I got a nicer member of staff who came to check the door with me and apologised.

Liked: Sure best western were unable to honour booking due to government commitments. They organised for us to stay at holiday inn with no additional cost or inconvenience.

Liked: Had a bed
Disliked: Arrived over an hour after our check in time and told room not ready. Waited another hour while other guests were checked in and show to their rooms.
