Disappointing. Certainly not to the...
Liked: The Booking Office senior hostess was great as were reception staff, though the latter took too long to check us in and accommodate us.Ability to drop bags off before check-in time.
Disliked: Pre-Covid, I stayed at St Pancras Renanssance regularly and also used the venue meetings when only down in London for the day. Since that time, prices have pretty much doubled (the price of a room certainly has) and yet the whole experience has, unfortunately, been reduced. I booked a room for my husband and I (our 25th wedding anniversary) as we were travelling by train into Kings X. The hotel was, previously, a great base (no dragging bags across town) and a fabulous 5* experience. It really wasn't this time.We checked our bags in when we arrived but were unable to check-in for our room until 3pm as expected but when we arrived back to check-in there was clearly an issue, despite the reservation having been made some months ago. After 20+ mins of waiting, a room was finally found. When we went up we found the room was an Accessible room and had not been cleaned properly - it was dusty in places, furniture and paintwork scuffed, sad and tired (the room, not us!). Had I booked us into the Premiere Inn further down Euston Road, it would have been fine but this is a London 5* not a Tui or Jet2 own rate 5*. I went back down to reception to explain that the room was not acceptable and that we did not require or wish to be in an Accessible room. Another room could not be found immediately (for some time actually) and not wanting to loiter for another long duration, we went into the Booking Office and ordered drinks and the cheeseboard. The latter arrived with only 5 crackers, 3 of which were Jacobs Crackers. Again, I have no issue with Jacobs Crackers but don't expect to see them on a 5* cheeseboard especially when there's not enough for the cheese! A waiter did bring us a lot more crackers when asked.A room was finally found and our bags moved over. It was more appropriate and the rest of our stay was lovely but the whole experience could and should have been avoided.
