Pleasant

Liked: Staff was fantastic
Disliked: The location was not as close to Shelter Cove as expected. The layout of the room, bathroom was in the middle with a frosted door. Wake-up people in the middle of the night with the light shining through the door.

Liked: Nice room layout. Reasonably quiet.
Disliked: King size bed was not regulation size, was 4 inches short on width. Thermostats in room do not allow user to cool the room properly. Very limited water comes out of bathroom faucet and shower.

Superb

Disliked: I was in room 30 one and there’s a desk in there with sliding glass that rattles very easily especially when a washer or dryer is on in the laundry room on the other side of the wall. The second issue is that there was a single hair on the wall of the shower that wasn’t from our party when we got there. Besides that it was perfect.

Liked: I liked the aesthetic of the room, but it was not the room I booked.
Disliked: Lack of hospitality. Toiletries were not easily accessible, and when I called down to have some brought to my room, I was told on two different occasions that I had to come down to the front desk to get them. When I arrived, the room I booked was not the room I received, and I specifically booked a King bedroom. If I wanted a double I would have booked a double. When I walked in, the room was clean, but the welcome on the TV said 'Welcome Cindy'... and so I guess Cindy took my King instead of her double Queen, but my name isn't Cindy. I was super frustrated that the staff was not accommodating and made no effort to offer solutions. I will be contacting the booking agency for a partial refund. This was unacceptable and I will not stay here again. I go to HH often for work, and there are other options which I'm sure will accommodate my stay in a way which aligns with the baseline of expectations I set when I pay just under $200 for a place to lay my head at night and take a shower.

Exceptional

Extremely disappointed for a Marriott-affiliated...

Liked: The price was reasonable for the area, but still far too much considering the issues of this hotel. The breakfast was good the one morning that I was there for it. The staff that I interacted with were wonderful. The bed was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: This hotel has some major issues. First, it is built directly adjacent to a waste treatment facility which means that one will occasionally smell wafts of fecal matter in the air - I thankfully only experienced this in the parking lot, but I can only imagine how bad it gets in warmer months. That's South Carolina urban "planning" for ya.Within the hotel, there were further issues. There is a major issue with soundproofing between rooms; I could hear the TV and conversations in the room next to me with disturbing clarity. I suggest a heavy amount of soundproofing foam or something similar because this poses a significant privacy concern for guests. My room had a desk, but it loudly rattled when used because of attached sliding glass panels that seemingly served no purpose (they also did not slide properly due to improper installation). These should likely just be removed. Also, I dropped something near the bed and had the unfortunate experience of seeing the DISGUSTING amount of crumbs and garbage underneath the bed; better pay, staffing, and training for cleaning staff are warranted, or this hotel can enjoy its inevitable ant/roach problem. Finally, I had the unfortunate experience of slipping and falling while in the bathroom as the floors and tub are exceptionally slick. I am a young, able-bodied person who thankfully did not sustain any injuries, but this made me concerned for those who may be more vulnerable. At the very least, the hotel should consider putting up signage warning people about this issue.Of course, I expect none of this to be addressed by corporate/management because it might hurt the short-term profit potential. Do better.
