The Spotlight on Short Stories Hotel

Chic, Artistic Vibes in the Heart of LA

Short Stories Hotel is a boutique-style hideaway in central Los Angeles, just steps from iconic shopping spots, buzzing dining scenes, and world-class museums. This stylish stay combines a modern aesthetic with local artwork and custom décor in every room, offering a unique and comfortable home base for your music-fueled trip.

With a focus on design and detail, this hotel feels like a curated gallery you can sleep in—perfect for travelers who want their stay to be as memorable as the show they came for.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and Short Stories puts you close to some of LA’s most popular music venues without being in the thick of the noise. After the encore, it’s just a short ride back to comfort. The 4:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out times give you flexibility, and being central makes catching a late-night ride share or scooting back on a Lime a breeze.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to explore the city by day and hit a gig by night
  • Solo travelers ticking that dream concert off their list
  • Couples turning a show into a stylish weekend getaway
  • Fans needing downtime after a high-energy night
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality and location

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Short Stories Restaurant serves up a creative spin on California cuisine, blending flavors from the Far East, Latin America, and the Mediterranean. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hotel’s central location means late-night bites are always nearby. Breakfast is available—perfect for those slower mornings after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While there’s no live music on-site, the hotel is within easy reach of LA’s legendary nightlife. From high-energy clubs and rooftop bars to intimate lounges with local craft cocktails, you’ll find plenty of post-show options just a short ride or stroll away. The hotel’s atmosphere is more chill than party, making it a great spot to wind down.

What People Say

Guests love the thoughtful design, comfortable rooms, and exceptional location. Reviewers highlight the friendly staff and how easy it is to access both major attractions and concert venues. Many say it’s a hidden gem tucked into one of LA’s most walkable neighborhoods.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the rooms are on the smaller side, and while there’s great food on-site, a wider range of late-night dining or room service options would be a welcome addition. But for most, the charm and location more than make up for it.

The Bottom Line

If you want a stylish, centrally located hotel that blends comfort with character—without the chaos—Short Stories Hotel is a smart pick for concert-goers.

We enjoyed our stay, mostly because they went above and beyond to make up for the mistake. We appreciated the service and kind staff.

Passable

Liked: Staff was very friendly and helpful and the patio was nice to stay for the morning while working. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable
Disliked: You have to pay 45 dollars per day for valey parking though the hotel does seem to have a location to park (at least the back part we were in). Our room smelled like moth balls

I miss the other hotel’s...

Liked: I loved the property when it was The Farmer’s Daughter. SO MUCH has changed. I missed the store, the way the atrium was designed and the potato chips and brandy in the evenings.
Disliked: The front desk team

I loved staying at Short...

Liked: The location was perfect. The room was great and room service impeccable. The restaurant was great too, especially "happy hour" specials.
Disliked: My room was directly opposite the pool area, so on a few occasions there were kids screaming on the top of their voices whilst jumping in and out of the pool. It felt a little inappropriate for such a classy, tranquil hotel with elite clientele who were dining or holding private meetings in the courtyard area. I appreciate that the parents were happy that their kids were having such a fun raucous party, but maybe this hotel wasn't the best fit for them? There was also lighting issues in my particular room (214) where bedside lamps would blink or flash quite erratically when any other power was being utilized in the room, such as aircon, hairdryer, TV, etc. If you put a side bedside lamp on, it will occasionally flash brightly, which could be an electrical issue to be investigated.

Loved this place!

Liked: Loved our stay here! Perfect location, with a beautiful courtyard and a nice size pool to cool off in. Right across from a farmers market filled with amazing food vendors and the grove shopping area, we had a nice time at the local spots to here, its around the corner from a nice bar and resturant. The whole place feels so considered and thoughtful the design details and the little touches like chocolates on the pillow at turndown, robes, and toiletries. A stay that felt both relaxed and special. Absolutely loved it!
Disliked: Nothing, all perfect!
