It was convenient for us...

Liked: We were arriving off a ferry from France rather late in a vintage car with bad lights, so we decided to spend the night in Portsmouth. The Queens was handy as it is in Southsea.
Disliked: The room was quite small and rather tired. The double bed was rather small and the mattress was rather squashy. As it was stormy at sea,the windows made a whistling noise.

Smart But, disappointed

Liked: The location was great
Disliked: The hotel was cold. The room cleaning was lacking somewhat. We stayed two nights bed wasn't made and we had no beverage top up.

Good

Liked: All the public areas, reception bar, restaurant. All staff we met. Everything and everyone was above average. Food was excellent in the restaurant and bar well worth every penny.
Disliked: The room we had had not been updated (which we knew on booking), but the room servicing was not 100%. The cup place mats were not renewed. We had coffee/tea stains on them. A bottle of drinking water was in the room on arrival, and that was left empty for a few days. In fact, it was replaced once in the 5 nights we stayed. No flannels in the bathroom. The toilet roll holder was very loose on the wall. There was a very small single stand-alone wardrobe, not so good for two people. The bed was great, but the pillow cases were too small for the pillows. None of this spoilt our stay and was not worth complaining about as we didn't spend much time in the room. But the total feel was a room expected in a one-star hotel, not a three - to four star one!
