Superb

Liked: Everything was excelent.
Disliked: Probably the only thing that could be improved would be breakfast, adding something that is not sweer and carbs (eggs or some ham).

Good

Liked: I like it?s clean and nestled somewhere that looks not in Hollywood. Love the location. The hostel has potential especially of its history.
Disliked: I didn?t like one of the staff but the rests are lovely especially the cleaning lady. The reception at night might be efficient but she sounded like old grumpy headmaster in a boarding school. She sounded very military. She treats guests with her condescending loud voice as if she?s giving drills. She shouldn?t be the front of a beautiful hostel. I know I can?t change how she is but definitely you can put her in the office to do office jobs. The hostel so cozy. I would come back because of the facility. The price higher by few bucks compared to the one along the Boulevard. There?s no free tour. The basement rooms are noisy not because of guests but the kitchen being cleaned.

Exeeded expectations and made a...

Liked: We loved the ambiance of the old mansion with huge lawn and trees, a pocket of historical residential history smack in the middle of busy mainstream Hollywood. So many famous places within walking distance (plus proximity to metro). The staff were super accommodating, held our luggage, switched our room to one that better met our needs, and were fun and friendly.
Disliked: Kitchen was too small and could have had better options for sanitizing dishes (it's in the basement and very small, no dishwasher or special sanitation facilities for the guest do-it-yourself dishwashing.

Nice location

Liked: My friend and I got a twin room with double beds each and a private bathroom upstairs on the top floor. Really liked how spacious the room was and it was very clean. Lots of natural light. The location was great and super close to Hollywood walk of fame and the TCL Chinese Theatre.
Disliked: The bathroom sink had a weird smell which was not terrible but not nice either. The shower is very very tight/small. Also the wifi on the top level was terrible.

Amazing Location provides walking opportunities...

Liked: The location is fantastic, just one block up from Hollywood Blvd, right next to the Magic Castle. From here we were able to walk to our concert and enjoy the scenery too and from.

Disliked: Air con did not work and front desk could not fix. Room had no fly screen on windows. There was no hot water on any of the 3 days.

Great place to stay if...

Liked: +The location was superb - literally a footstep away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Dolby Theatre and the Hollywood and Highland centre, including the metro. We were lucky enough to get a room during the Oscars which was amazing! +Friendly hostel, spacious rooms, good wifi and decent breakfast. +Lovely outside patio to catch the sun. +Beautiful traditional style LA building with history. +Friendly staff and lots of information to hand +The chance to meet lots of other people of all ages and nationalities + I would recommend this place to other people who wanted to stay central but not pay a high price.
Disliked: - We paid for a double room with private bathroom and a few extra touches wouldn't have gone amiss given the higher price range compared to the dorm rooms, like a lamp or lampshade. The first room we stayed in (we started and ended our holiday there) was particularly bare. - Bathrooms in private rooms very small with sliding doors. - Use shower early if you want hot water. - Breakfast okay but a little basic - which reflects that it is a hostel, not a hotel. - Quite noisy with road traffic - A lot of homeless in the neighourbood, but this seems to be a general LA issue and not specific to this region or any fault of the hostel's.

wrong number of address from...

Liked: firstly the address was wrong. #1756 doesn't exist. I found 1758 then 1756 was missing. No sign at all nearby. I was in confusion, I went to visitor's centre of Hollywood but She didn't try to understand the is missing. I came back to the road of "N. Orange Drive". I confirmed the number is missing. I found a man coming out from #1758 building, he was a kind man, he heard I was trying to find a hostel the he took me the next building #1764. That was it the hostel.
Disliked: this is very traditional style but digital is better and comfortable. And the room mate was very bad. Staying hostel should have good room mates. He made noisy and doing as he liked and very rude. Most of all he opened window during nights which was not acceptable, I caught a cold after a cold night.
