Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Atlanta East - Lithonia

The pillow cases had not been changed and had drool stains on them from the last occupants of the room. Which led me to believe, was any of the linen even changed? Next would be the cleanliness of the bathroom, the shower was filthy with visible dirt in the soap dish along with dirty tub lining and the bathroom sink was not clean. There were people wandering through the halls all hours of the night looking suspicious and up to no good. When I went down to grab a bit of breakfast the first morning after my arrival, several older black women were sitting around the lobby with PJ's on with head bonnets, looking at me as if I stepped into their kitchen and was uninvited. (I am a black woman mind you) I felt awkward so I returned to my room with half a cup of hot water for my tea because the hot water dispenser was broken. I am not sure if this hotel has long stay for residence of the community but it is horrible place to stay. There were zip ties on the side door, securing the exit/entrance (a fire hazard) which should be a thoroughfare, but when I inquired to the front desk about it, I was informed that all doors were locked after hours for safety reasons. While heading out to the venue on that Sunday morning, we found out by housekeeping that the elevator was out of service and we would need to use the stairs to get to the lobby. On return a few hours later, the elevator was still out of service and I was forced to take my heels off and climb to the fourth floor to get to my room. This hotel could do much better if there were a better management in place. Anyone looking to stay at the Holiday In Express in Lithonia, I truly hope you see this and reconsider.

Liked: It was close to the venue.
Disliked: The cleanliness of the room.

Ok stay

Liked: The beds were comfortable & clean, staff was able to find me a room on the first floor.
Disliked: Breakfast was cold & wasn't good, other guest were loud late at night which made it hard to fell asleep, pool wasn't open & elevator was broken, if you room on the upper floors, you have to walk up the stairs with your stuff.

Disliked: Using the stairs because elevator was out the whole stay.

Disliked: The room smells horrible. There were no bedroom slippers provided. Some toiletries were not provided.

Liked: The conveience to the location was great!
Disliked: The elevators were OOC! We used the stairs up to the 3rd floor; it was only for 1 night thankfully.

My stay at this hotel...

Disliked: I did not like having to drag my luggage up 4 flights of stairs and back down the next day! I also did not like the fact that I was not told that the elevator was down beforehand and the Ice machine was broken on the 4th floor and there was a sign on it that said out of order- use Ice machine on 1st floor.

Liked: The front staff was 3. The room was hot but I was accommodated. The hotel is in major need of a makeover. Great location but will not return.
Disliked: Major makeover and renovation is much needed.

Extremely mediocre. Would not recommend.

Liked: The breakfast was okay the next morning.
Disliked: Extremely outdated. The elevator did not work. There was a huge stain on the pull out mattress. You could also tell that some people lived there full time. A very interesting experience. Not worth the price at all.
