A Nightmare Stay – Avoid...

Disliked: This was, without a doubt, one of the worst accommodation experiences we’ve ever had.The room was shockingly small (less than 10m²), with an old, noisy bed that made it impossible to sleep. The bathroom was not even in the room—it was located at the other end of the corridor, which is completely unacceptable given the high price we paid ($371 USD!).The place was so bad that we couldn’t imagine spending the night there. We politely asked the manager if we could leave immediately and only be charged for one night instead of two. Unfortunately, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. She started yelling for no reason, showed zero understanding or empathy, and aggressively reminded us that the booking was non-refundable without offering any solution or compromise.Faced with this kind of treatment, we had no choice but to leave and find another hotel at our own expense. This whole situation left us with a deep sense of frustration and disappointment.We’ve always trusted Booking.com and the reviews posted here, but this experience felt like a betrayal. This property is a disgrace, both in terms of the conditions and the staff’s attitude. Travelers deserve better.

Liked: Donna and Richard provide a very nice comfortable place to stay close to Bannister's Wharf. But it is just far enough up the road to provide a quiet retreat from the crowds of Newport. Breakfast was perfect, coffee and quiche. It is a good value too, Some other inns on the street are much more expensive.I have seen the normal Newport sites years ago but had to stop for the chowder at the Black Pearl. Richard made a good recommendation for a hike and birding at the Norman Bird Sanctuary next to Newport in Middletown. Then I stopped at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. Now if only Flo's Clam Shack had been open for a bowl of clear Rhode Island Chowder ;-)

Dishonest owner

Disliked: Dishonest owner: charges almost the same price for a tiny room without a toilet as for a suite three to four times larger. The bedding is of extremely poor quality — it looks like it was salvaged from a garage sale. The shared toilets are far down the hallway, which is dangerous, especially for people who wake up at night — there’s a real risk of falling down the stairs. The female owner is very unpleasant, unlike her husband or partner, who seems kinder. We explained that it was impossible for us to stay and tried to reach a compromise, but she was completely unwilling — all she cares about is money. We had to leave and give up both rooms, even though we had already paid. There was no attempt to retain us or offer a solution. Honestly, this kind of behavior gives a terrible impression of the U.S.: a greed for money at any cost. It’s sad.
