Amazing

Liked: Originally we stayed at the hotel which was lovely but then we moved to the Lake House which was absolutely wonderful - we tried both restaurants - both amazing - as were the staff - to name a couple Dave who drove us to the restaurant from the Lake House and back again - nothing was too much trouble - Emma the lovely receptionist who is an absolute credit to the Gilpin and the barman at the Lake House - in fact, all staff were amazing and a complete credit to this wonderful family run hotel. We’ll definitely return

Good

Liked: Loved the room. Bed was very comfortable. The whole setting was lovely and the hot tub amazing. Hotel staff were very nice.
Disliked: The hotel was lovely but as The Source is such a large feature of the hotel we were disappointed. The staff were very nice but they told us they were understaffed and unfortunately the bar service suffered a lot. We felt ignored for a long time, waiting more than an hour and a quarter for any drinks other than water. We felt bad getting the attention of the server who was clearly doing her best to try to compensate for the lack of staff, with other staff appearing to prioritise the highest paying customers (i.e. those who chose the wine pairing option).

Liked: The service was exceptional
Disliked: The room has a view from the car park and not the lake and for the price disappointing. The shower would only get warm not hot. The water from the taps wasn’t drinkable.

A beautiful place, but wasn’t...

Liked: Beautiful setting, the room was lovely and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hot tubs and pool were very nice.
Disliked: Our room over looked the car park. We couldn’t book any of the treatments as it was booked out and this was a present for my husband’s birthday.

Exceptional

Amazing rooms, fantastic staff however...

Liked: Lovely location and nice views. Staff were amazing, very friendly and fast. Bed was very comfy and room was immaculate.
Disliked: Bit misleading from the photos and information. We stayed in the hotel and did not have any access to the spa facilities. It did say under the description that we could reserve a hot tub however they were broken when we arrived which was disappointing as it was the whole reason I’d booked this property. The lake in the pictures is also a mile away from the property so we could have a drink there as we had to drive.
