You won’t go hungry here. The on-site Florence Arms Gastro Pub serves up lunch and dinner all year round, and the seasonal outdoor restaurant The Garden is a hit in warmer months. A full à la carte cooked breakfast is served daily—perfect for late risers after a big night out. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the on-site dining options are high quality and convenient.

Nightlife Options

Start your night at the hotel’s own gastropub with local ales and upscale pub fare, or venture just a few minutes away to find bars, lounges, and live music venues near the beach and pier. Whether you're after a quiet pint or a late-night dance, Portsmouth’s lively scene is just around the corner.

What People Say

Guests love the stylish decor, spotless rooms, and friendly service. Many rave about the excellent breakfast and the relaxed seaside atmosphere. The location is frequently praised for being close to the beach and within easy reach of entertainment without the crowds.

Areas for Improvement

Parking can be tricky if you haven’t reserved in advance, and because there’s no lift, some guests mention that stairs could be a challenge if you have lots of luggage. But these are minor trade-offs for the charm and character you get in return.

The Bottom Line

A cosy, stylish escape near the sea that hits the right note for concert-goers looking for boutique comfort within easy reach of Portsmouth’s live music scene.

Lovely rooms, food was good...

Liked: The rooms were decorated lovely, the food was good and service was good.
Disliked: We were quite underwhelmed by the service during our recent stay. Upon arrival around lunchtime, we had a light meal before check-in. When it came time to check in, we found the reception area completely unmanned. After standing there for about five minutes with no assistance, I approached a nearby staff member who admitted they didn’t know what to do and simply said, “The lady should be back soon.” Another five minutes passed before someone finally arrived. The check-in experience itself was awkward. The receptionist asked a series of standard questions but did so while facing the desk the entire time, never making eye contact. It felt impersonal and dismissive. The final question—asking if we had anything planned during our stay—seemed more like a formality than genuine interest. I chose not to answer, as it was clear the question wasn't asked with any intent to engage.Breakfast was similarly disappointing. Three staff members were gathered together chatting as we entered, yet none of them acknowledged us or even offered a simple “Good morning.” For a four-star hotel, this lack of basic hospitality is quite surprising.Overall, the experience left much to be desired in terms of customer service and warmth. It's a shame, as the hotel itself seemed to have potential.
