Days Inn by Wyndham West Des Moines

This hotel was great value! Very close to Val-Air ballroom, and it has been renovated. I noticed at first that there are outdoor entries to the rooms, which would usually be a turn-off for me, but the hotel has obviously been renovated, has a nice pool area and was clean. We had an excellent meal at the BBQ place next door. We will definitely stay again.

Disliked: The man I talked to was incredibly rude. He was this Indian man at the front desk that was exceptionally rude. He berated me for forgetting my ID. Then I had two other people call and he was rude to them too. It was unacceptable. That behavior isn't just "oh he's having one bad day". He needs fired.

Disliked: Ice machine didn't work. Breakfast was a crockpot full of sausages. Room smelled like wet dog. Service desk was usually abandoned.

Liked: The location of the room and hotel were fine.
Disliked: The manger told me 1 could book the room online and he did have the room available. But when I got there at 2am on the 30th. The day of my reservation. He refused to check me in even though I just spoke to him about it. I ended up having to pay at $130 extra for a room for the 29th and 30th for more money plus the hold on my card. He told me my card would only be charged once for $78 but I was charged for both days

Liked: The hotel was clean. The beds were comfortable. It was quite. Had a nice clean pool. Great location to where I needed to be.
Disliked: The guy behind the counter was very rude and When I tried to leave he tried to keep me from getting back my deposit of 100 dollars. He tried to say i had the wrong number when I dialed zero to get front desk. Then I said I need to check out. Then he said just leave the key's. I told him no I need my hundred dollars back. He said okay. Then he made me wait 45 minutes. I was almost to the point to call the cops and Search for the manager or somebody in charge. But as I was getting ready to dial 911.He walked through the door and showed up. He had an.Attitude and was very rude. Delayed as much as possible, giving me the money.. Then when he did, he slammed it on the counter.. I got out of there as soon as possible without saying a word holding my tongue because the man needed to be spoken to. I felt disrespected He tried to take advantage of me and not giving me my hundred dollars. And was rude about the whole situation.. I will never go to this hotel again.. I don't recommend the place just because of my experience in his attitude and what he tried to do.. I am very upset and deciding if I ever wanna use booking.com again because there was no warning..

Good price, quiet, comfortable bed....

Liked: I like the shower and toilet all in one room and it LARGE (not a cracker box situation). Shower head was very nice. I like the sink outside of the toilet/shower area. Nice flat screen TV. Parking lot was REALLY bright and well lit. Bed comfortable - Great front desk person
Disliked: This is a non smoking room & building but the top blanket / cover had cigarette holes in it. It did not smell and was clean. Shower curtain did not stay like it should and so water was all over the floor. I do NOT like the bowed out curtain bar. I think people hang on it and then ruin it.
