The Spotlight on Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus Fairgrounds

Affordable Comfort Steps from the Fairgrounds

Modern, no-frills hotel just minutes from the Ohio Expo Center and Ohio State Fairgrounds. The Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus Fairgrounds offers a convenient and wallet-friendly home base for concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort. With free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and a complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, it's a smart choice for music lovers on the move.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can't beat the location—this hotel is within walking distance of major event venues like the Ohio State Fairgrounds and Expo Center. That means no rideshare waits or parking hassles after the show. The atmosphere is quiet enough for post-concert wind-downs, and with check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, it works for both early birds and late risers.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a low-cost crash pad near the show
Solo travelers catching a must-see gig
Couples making a weekend of it without breaking the bank
Fans who prefer a quieter space to recover post-concert
Budget-conscious music lovers who still want a clean, safe stay

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant on-site, guests enjoy a free continental breakfast to go—perfect for grabbing a bite after a late night. There are also several local eateries and casual dining spots just a short walk or drive away, making it easy to find food before or after the show.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is quiet, you're just a quick drive from downtown Columbus’ vibrant nightlife, including bars, lounges, and live music venues. Want something more low-key? Nearby taverns and casual pubs offer a place to keep the night going at your own pace.

What People Say

Guests appreciate the excellent location for events at the Expo Center and OSU. Travelers often mention the friendly staff, free Wi-Fi, and easy parking as highlights. Many note it's a solid, affordable option for a short stay during concerts or festivals.

Areas for Improvement

The property is a bit older, and some rooms could use a refresh. If you're used to luxury, this may feel more basic—but for most concert-goers, it's more than enough. Some guests mention limited dining options within walking distance, so plan ahead for late-night meals.

The Bottom Line

The Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus Fairgrounds is a budget-friendly, well-located base that puts you steps from the show and offers just what you need for a comfortable concert weekend.

Did not conform to ADA standards; did not have the number of beds shown in the picture. Neither wheelchair nor walker would fit in room.

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Everything.

Liked: We could walk back to the hotel from the entertainment at the fair which was great!

Pleasant - 3.0 out of 5

Martin M, Dover Mon, 7 August 2023

It was an okay hotel, just that it needs some upgrades added. Air-conditioning was not blowing fast - just low considering it was on high. Tub needed cleaned better. Towels very thin and shampoo and conditioner very small bottles. Price too much for this type of setting.

Liked: Bed.
Disliked: Air-conditioning.

The overall appearance of the hotel was good. The lobby was OK. The room was OK until I pulled back the covers and the duvet had spots on it. I didn't know if it was blood or what it was, but it was late and so we just pulled the cover down to our feet and covered up with just the sheet. The refrigerator was not cold at all when we got to the room. I put some water in it and by the time we got back to the room around 11:30p.m. it had finally gotten cold. Also upon getting ready to checkout at 10:45 I went to the Lobby and there was no one there at the counter and I had to wait for about 10 minutes for someone to show back up. There was a young man there cleaning up after the breakfast time was up but he could not help me and could barely understand English. The hotel was decent but some things need to be addressed. This is the second Days Inn that I stayed at within the last 2 weeks - is there any rewards program associated with your hotel? Please let me know.

Liked: Proximity to Fairgrounds.
Disliked: The refrigerator took forever to get cold once we got the room.

I would stay again.

Liked: Staff was very nice; bed was very comfortable; close to the venue.
Disliked: We didn't get the room we paid for, but they did switch it the next day. The first room stunk like cat pee.

I'm pretty sure we kicked a family out of their home for the night, for which I kind of feel bad. They seemed understaffed but those conditions were beyond gross!

Liked: Ummmmm.
Disliked: It's hard to decide where to begin. The room was still being "cleaned" when we got there at 5:00 p.m. The housekeeper quickly came into our room as we unlocked it to drop off our towels - on the bathroom floor! There was an empty body wash bottle in the bathtub, jackets in the drawer, a pull off metal lid on the floor hidden by the comforter ready to slice a toe, copper bee-bees on the floor, a rolled up diaper (unused) in the corner, two TV's (one of which had a $10 garage sale price tag on it), smoke alarm hanging off the wall, no soap, 3 sheets of toilet paper, and best of all, something translucent and whitish dripping down the TV's onto the dresser.

Exceptional - 5.0 out of 5

Miranda, St. Louis, MO

Stayed here 2 nights and it was totally fine - it's no luxury hotel but the room was clean and comfortable and served its purpose. The bathroom was kind of dingy but everything worked and the shower was super hot. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Liked: Room was clean; comfortable bed; close to venue and downtown area.
Disliked: Water damage by bathroom wall. Some mold growth in that area behind the wallpaper.

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Kayla, visiting Newport Music Hall

To be completely honest, this was the worst hotel stay I have ever had in my 27 years of life. As soon as we walked in we were overcome by a horrible scent of bleach and smoke and dirt. Just reminded us of somewhere really shady. The bed linens had brown stains and the bathroom was so tiny. There were long black hairs all over the floor and we were so turned off by the gross room that we were afraid to touch the remote for fear of what may have been on it. This hotel should just be shut down. It's apparent that the staff couldn't care less about the appearence or the guests. Absolutely horrible! Not worth the 20 or so dollars you may be saving by staying here compared to some place else.

Liked: Checking out and going home.
Disliked: Horrible smell in the room; dirty bed linens; horrible location; someone knocking on our door at 2a.m.

Never stay at this hotel!

Disliked: Checked out after 10 minutes. Graffiti on hotel. Nice pool in picture was by the street, not so nice and closed!
