Exceptional
Liked: The rooms were spacious, the beds comfy, and the staff were so lovely and accomodating! Couldn’t rate them higher. The breakfast was also 10/10. So worth the visit!

Good location
Liked: Good location at the end of a side road off the main dragNice breakfast cooked to order - nothing fancy but adequate Friendly staffParking
Disliked: The room was small and simple. There was nowhere to put anything (i.e a shelf in the small bathroom would have been handy) The beds squeaked at the tiniest movement as the headboards were wobbly ….but for a short stay with hand luggage it’s fine

Superb
Liked: Room was clean, bed was comfy, water pressure was good.
Disliked: Parking lot was full by time we got back and we had to park in ev spot. Maybe assign spots? Also walls are thin so we heard everything from folks upstairs and in our hallway starting early. An offer of coffee refill would have been great during breakfast!

Lovely old inn, but not...
Liked: The Inn is very pretty and well located. The breakfast was very nice, and the serving team were pleasant.
Disliked: There does not seem to be much effort here to ensure guest comfort. The Inn is old and attractive, but simple things which are standard in much cheaper accomodation nearby are omitted. For example, at check-in we were told that the only available time slots for breakfast were well after 9, with the only alternative appearing to be coffee and cookies. Fall is a busy time of year in New England, and things like State Park carparks for hiking and railroad trips get very full, so an early start is recommended. The "fine print" does indicate that there is no elevator available, but it would have been considerate to offer help with bags up two flights of steep stairs.. As there is no dining room, we asked for help finding a restaurant for dinner nearby, but got no information, although there are at least two very nice restaurants within a very short walk. Even small motels elsewhere on our trip offered a list and map of local places to eat/get groceries. The "superior king" room was disappointing, with a small basin in the bedroom, and a separate shower and toilet. This meant very little space to put down toiletries, or hang towels. No facial tissues were provided (again, standard in much cheaper accommodation), and a wastebasket only in the bedroom, not the bathroom. A hairdryer is listed as available - but not in the room, it had to be requested from reception, which closes at 8pm. The broken light in the carpark meant that finding anything in the car after dark was very difficult. All these minor niggles might have been less annoying if we had had a decent night's sleep, but we were repeatedly woken by the intensely bright light from the smoke alarm, which has been positioned directly above the bed head. Obviously having a working smoke alarm is essential, but why it has to have a light bright enough to cast a shadow, and be positioned where it is impossible to avoid it, is beyond me.
