Disliked: Our balcony overlooked a Weed garden!Dark, dingy entrance to room.Greeted with all cleaning supplies stored right outside our door on leaving.I expected a lot better for the price.

A pleasant stay with nice...

Liked: Staff very helpful and friendly and nice dining room for dinner. We were given an upgrade to a Deluxe room on the top floor with a separate bedroom and living room with balcony and view. It was a cold day and the aircon was set to 16 degrees cool and we couldn't adjust it. A staff member came to our room and spend over half an hour working out how to change the aircon setting from cool to warm. It was lovely of her but shouldn't have been necessary. I found the bed comfy.
Disliked: Kept awake by revellers in next door room. At 2.30am I went onto the balcony and called across to them to ask them to turn the music down. We told the hotel next day and they said we could have called reception. It was a Wednesday night so thought it would be ok. Our second night was fine. You had to get out of bed to reach the switch for the bedside lights. Only two coat hangers of the sort you can't unhook although a staff member did bring us 3 more on request. The bathroom was huge but (in my opinion) very unattractive brown/orange tiles and very poor lighting. Impossible to do make up in. Living room huge but lighting poor. Needed a floor lamp in the corner. Would be good if you're with a group and want to socialise in each other's rooms and on each other's balconies.

Balgownie is a great location...

Liked: Great set up with facilities of Spa, cellar door, bar and restaurant. Food and service in 1309 was very good.
Disliked: The rooms/ suites are not up to date with dated furnishings, especially the beds and linen. Quality does not justify the price.

Fabulous trip to the Yarra...

Liked: The dinner and wine tasting was lovely! The service at dinner was exceptional and we reallly enjoyed our stay!
Disliked: Nothing. We spoke to others who had an old room so having consistency with the rooms would be good.
