The Spotlight on Auburn Hills Extended Stay Inn

Affordable Comfort Just Minutes from the Music

Extended Stay America Suites - Auburn Hills - University Drive offers a comfortable, no-fuss stay just a few miles from some of Michigan’s top music venues. The hotel has a laid-back, residential vibe with fully-equipped kitchens in every room, free WiFi, and air conditioning to keep you cool post-show. It's especially popular for longer stays and budget-conscious travelers looking to be close to the action without breaking the bank.

Why Concert-goers love it

Located just over 2 miles from Meadow Brook Music Festival and about 14 miles from DTE Energy Music Theatre, this hotel puts you within easy reach of both indoor and outdoor venues. The quiet suburban location makes it a peaceful spot to crash after a loud night, and the 24-hour front desk is helpful if you're coming in late. While check-in starts at 3:00 PM, guests appreciate the smooth and flexible check-in process.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends road-tripping to a weekend concert
  • Solo travelers catching a dream tour stop
  • Couples making a music-filled getaway
  • Fans who want a quiet place to recover post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who’d rather spend on merch than lodging

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each suite comes with a full kitchen, making it easy to whip up meals late at night. There are several casual eateries and fast food spots within walking or short driving distance. A grab-and-go breakfast is available, which is perfect for those who sleep in after a late night.

Nightlife Options

The hotel itself is more of a place to unwind than party, but you're a short drive from local bars and lounges in downtown Auburn Hills and Rochester. If you’re looking to keep the night going after the show, you won’t have to go far.

What People Say

Guests highlight the spacious rooms, helpful staff, and great value. The in-room kitchens are a big plus for those staying more than one night. Many say it’s a quiet, clean, and comfortable place to rest after a concert.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the hotel is more basic in amenities, and housekeeping isn’t daily unless requested. It's not a luxury stay—but it gets the job done, especially for the price.

The Bottom Line

A smart, budget-friendly base for concert-goers who want comfort, convenience, and a quiet place to crash after the encore.

Great hotel location for concerts at the Palace or DTE. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great to have a full kitchen. Also soundproofing of room was well done.

Liked: The staff is great. I'm homeless, and they really work with me, helping me get a good price. Very nice people, and the room is great for the price. I love it here.
Disliked: I may have to check out today because I have run out of money.

Liked: The coffee was alright. They had oatmeal packets, but no spoons or bowl to put it into, just a small Styrofoam cup
Disliked: The "continental breakfast" consisted of granola bars and single wrapped muffins. It was located in a very small room, where mostly the employees were sitting around and laughing about a guest who had just tripped outside. There was a used bar of soap in our shower, a ball of curly black hair by the garbage can, a fingernail on the night stand, lipstick on one od the bath towels..No coffee maker was included in the room, even though the description states that there is one. The room was just dirty. But, there was an envelope on the nightstand to leave a gratuity for the cleaning person, Benny, if we so inclined. When we checked in, the young man at the counter was watching TV on his phone, and barely uttered a word to us as he just gave us the form to fill out. No info about check lit time, breakfast, etc.Definitely not worth the $109 we paid for one night

Passable

Liked: The beds were comfortable and it was a place to rest.
Disliked: The fridge didn't work and the freezer worked more like a fridge. The hotel was older and worn out. There wasn't much for breakfast.

Very poor

Liked: Location was nice
Disliked: There was a lady with a dog up in the hallway at 130 in the morning dog barking and it took an hour to deal with the situation if guests don't follow rules kick them out immediately don't wait until the next day. We were tired for the whole Saturday event we had planned

Ok for one night only....

Liked: Price is really good for business trip and only one night. Localization is also good.
Disliked: The person who attended me in the check-in, not friendly at all. The place needs a refurbishment, specially the bathroom. Bedroom is ok. Kitchen very old. Breakfast is terrible. Only coffee and some snacks, really poor. But if you are looking for a cheap place and will stay only one night, that's ok.
