Indian Cafe Racer is a bold and buzzing spot in Birmingham’s city centre, just a short walk from several major concert venues. This quirky eatery blends Indian street food with a cool, motorbike-themed interior that gives it a fun and casual vibe. Located on Bristol Street, it’s a great pre-show choice for flavour-forward dishes, lively energy, and casual seating that suits everything from quick bites to group catch-ups.
With its close proximity to Birmingham’s live music hotspots, Indian Cafe Racer is a top pick for fans looking to fuel up before a gig. The service is known for being quick and efficient, so you can enjoy a full meal without worrying about missing your opener. The lively atmosphere gives off serious pre-show excitement, and the menu is ideal for sharing—perfect for groups on the go. Plus, its casual style means no need to dress up, just show up and enjoy.
Reviewers on TripAdvisor and OpenTable rave about the bold flavours and creative twists on classic Indian fare. The chaat and tandoori dishes stand out, and the street food-inspired menu earns high marks for variety and value. Many mention the fun décor and upbeat vibe, as well as the staff’s friendliness and speed. It’s often described as a “hidden gem” and a “go-to spot before a gig.”
Some guests mention that seating can be a bit limited during peak hours, and the music inside can get quite loud—not ideal if you’re looking for a quiet meal. A few noted that parking nearby can be tricky, so public transport or rideshare is your best bet.
Indian Cafe Racer serves up big flavours, fast service, and a fun crowd—a great way to kick off your concert night in Birmingham.

What a great experience. A little bit concerned when the maitre’d removed the menus and informed us he was taking us on a trip around India. Sample starters, sufficient for all, beautifully prepared and well presented. Several different curries for everyone one to sample. Despite initial concerns, the food and service for a party of nine was first class. Everyone came away impressed with a unique experience. Never heard jazz being played as background music in an Indian restaurant. Many thanks to all concerned and unhesitatingly recommend to anyone who wants a different experience.
Liked: Food; service; atmosphere.
Disliked: Difficult for strangers to find (inside the Wellington PH).
