The Spotlight on The New Yorker A Wyndham Hotel

Classic NYC Charm Steps from the Action

With its bold Art-Deco design and iconic high-rise silhouette, The New Yorker A Wyndham Hotel offers vintage NYC flair in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Located just across the street from Penn Station and minutes from Times Square, it's the perfect base for music fans catching shows at Madison Square Garden, Terminal 5, or Hammerstein Ballroom. The vibe? Classic New York energy with modern comforts and unbeatable convenience.

Why Concert-goers love it

You couldn’t ask for a better location—Penn Station is just 531 feet away, making late-night train rides or subway hops back to the hotel a breeze. With 24-hour dining and a helpful concierge desk that can assist with show tickets or post-concert dinner reservations, it’s built for fans on the go. Rooms are surprisingly quiet for Midtown, giving you a peaceful retreat after a loud, high-energy night.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a central launchpad
- Solo travelers catching a dream performance
- Couples making a romantic weekend out of a concert
- Fans seeking quiet recovery after the encore
- Budget-conscious music lovers wanting Midtown location without luxury prices

Food and Drink Options

Two on-site dining spots, including a 24-hour diner, mean you’re never far from a post-show snack. Room service is available for late-night cravings, and nearby 8th Avenue is packed with quick bites and local restaurants. Enjoy breakfast at your own pace the next day—perfect for late risers.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself offers more of a classic, laid-back atmosphere, you’re just a few blocks from some of NYC’s best nightlife. From rooftop lounges to jazz clubs and cocktail bars, Midtown has something for every post-show mood. Want to keep it low-key? Sip a nightcap at the hotel’s cozy bar or explore nearby Hell’s Kitchen.

What People Say

Guests love the unbeatable location, especially for events at Madison Square Garden and nearby venues. Many mention the comfortable beds, fast elevators, and friendly front desk staff. The vintage charm of the building adds to the unique NYC experience.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side—typical for NYC—and the building’s historic nature means some spots show their age. The elevators can get busy during peak times, especially right after major events.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers looking for a prime Midtown location, 24/7 dining, and easy access to major venues, The New Yorker A Wyndham Hotel hits all the right notes.

Joanne G, Massapequa, visiting Madison Square Garden

We ate at the hotel restaurant. The bed was comfortable. The room was a nice size and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We valet parked our car and it was taken good care of. We would stay at the Wyndham again.

Liked: We had a nice experience at the hotel.

It's a very old hotel but it is in a fantastic location for Manhattan. The price is exceptional for a NYC hotel and it is a clean, safe place to stay. Rooms were a little small but wouldn't stop me from staying again. Friendly staff.

Liked: Great location; nice price and clean.
Disliked: Small rooms.

Good aesthetic and location with...

Liked: Great location if you want to be close to the center of the action, with most of the key tourist sights in walking distance or about 15-20 minutes by public transit. The Butcher and Banker steakhouse in the basement (an old bank vault) was the highlight of our stay, and the Tick Tock Diner is convenient if you want to have a bite and don't want to stray far from the hotel.
Disliked: This hotel does not actually have queen beds even though they are advertised as such on both the hotel's website and Booking.com. The "queen" beds are actually doubles and very small for two average-sized adults. Moreover, the room does not come with a mini fridge, which was a first for us. Would have booked elsewhere for the sake of comfort had we known these things.

a good three-night stay

Liked: good central location; room air conditioning working very effectively; interesting hotel floor layout; business room available for guests in the basement; display about the history of the hotel in the basement and on the 33rd floorcentennial year approaching for this good old hotel
Disliked: kind of slow-moving revolving door between the sidewalk and the hotel lobby at the front entrance

Average

Liked: The breakfast option in the adjacent restaurant was ok for us. The best thing about the hotel - is the location (its just few minutes walk to the Penn Station)
Disliked: Its quite an old hotel and the rooms, as well as corridors are worn out. We had a room which was kind of an upgrade (we paid more), but we did not feel that we got a better room in comparison with other rooms where our family members stayed. No complimentary water is provided, no view from the window. But taking into consideration a nice history of the hotel, we are happy we tried it, however, would not come back.
