Wyndham Houston near NRG Park/Medical Center

Check in was at 3 pm which was ridiculous. Reserved a non-smoking room but the room smelled like cigarettes - even the lobby smelled like cigarettes. Tried to order room service for breakfast but no one answered so we had to drive and find somewhere to eat. For the amount we paid for one night I think it was a rip off - totally disappointed with our stay. The staff were friendly - the only positive I noted.

Liked: It was within walking distance of NRG Stadium.
Disliked: Check-in started at 3:00, and we waited in line for 1.5 hours to check in while the AC wasn't properly working in the lobby. The hotel should have expected an influx of guests due to the event at NRG and staffed accordingly. The ice machine on the 5th floor didn't work and was covered in mold. The ice machine on the 4th floor didn't work (finally got ice on the 3rd floor). The AC in our room was extremely loud and didn't work on the "high fan" setting at all. After getting back from the event late, they had a beer cart and grab-and-go pizza. We got a bottled water and pepperoni pizza...we recommend the bottled water but not the pizza. It was like cardboard with tomato sauce, fake cheese and maybe 5 pepperonis. Save your $12 and just go to bed hungry.

Disliked: No temperature control in the room. It was so hot we couldn’t sleep, there was no refrigerator in the room, terrible when you are staying for three nights. The hotel is very out dated and our room was never cleaned once the 3 nights we were there.
