Hotel Description
The “Road to the Isles” ends at the harbor of Mallaig with ferries to the Hebrides leaving from this remote and peaceful part of Scotland. Overlooking the village this hotel offers rooms with attached bathroom with Freeview TVs. All rooms from Classic upwards rooms boast views of the harbor and islands beyond. With ample free parking guests can discover the rugged and unspoiled coastline towards Skye to the south and there are many hiking routes straight from Mallaig around the neighboring Lochs Morar and Nevis. A 5-hour direct train journey through some of Scotland's most picturesque landscapes joins Mallaig to Glasgow. Our Terrace has now been transformed into a cozy lounge (with breath-taking panoramic views) in which we serve cold local platters light bites cakes and scones. For guests that would like a larger meal there are a variety of restaurants within a short walking distance of the hotel.

Super location & views, but...

Liked: Location was superb, next to and near local bars, restaurants etc. Beautiful view and sunset. Front veranda was very nice. Staff were very friendly. The front rooms appeared to be nice with views.
Disliked: The room we received was small and facing the rear of hotel compared to all the other rooms (perhaps all that was available), but the “blind” in the room did little to keep any light out and the room was absolutely roasting hot (with the window open), which resulted in us being awake from 5:30am and we had to open the window 2ft wide to try cool the room down. The floors in our room & above us also creaked terribly too which kept us awake when people were moving around from 6-7am.

Not a great experience.

Liked: The location and the scenery. Breakfast good but not a big variety of things and kept running out of brown bread.
Disliked: The cosy room was awful especially the bathroom which was grubby and needed updating.

Comfy but overpriced

Liked: Sea view was great and in general nice comfy hotel
Disliked: I found it quite overpriced (£140 per night) for a very basic room you get

Lovely place, spectacular view, but...

Liked: The view from our room was amazing.
Disliked: The floorboards squeaked and we had a lot of noise from the room above as a result.
