The Spotlight on Wedgewood Hotel

Classic Comfort in the Heart of Bayswater

Set in a charming Victorian townhouse overlooking a quiet garden square, the Wedgewood Hotel offers a cozy, no-frills stay right in the heart of Bayswater. With Queensway and Bayswater Underground Stations just a short stroll away, and Paddington Station within 2 miles, it’s a smart and convenient base for anyone coming to London for a show. The hotel features private en-suite rooms, free Wi-Fi throughout, and a classic London atmosphere at wallet-friendly rates.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Wedgewood Hotel scores points for its easy access to central London music venues via multiple Tube lines, making it a breeze to get to your gig and back. Being set on a peaceful garden square means quiet nights when you're ready to wind down post-show. Plus, with 24-hour front desk service and a handy location near Paddington Station, late-night returns or early departures are a non-issue.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a central base without breaking the bank
- Solo travelers in town for that once-in-a-lifetime concert
- Couples making a weekend getaway of their music experience
- Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
- Budget-conscious music lovers who just need the essentials

Food and Drink Options

While the Wedgewood doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, you’re just steps away from a range of late-night eateries in Bayswater and Queensway. Whether you're after a late curry, fish and chips, or a quick bite from a corner shop, it’s all within walking distance. Several nearby cafés offer breakfast service if you’ve had a late night, and many spots open early so you can grab a bite before heading home.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is more of a retreat than a party spot, it’s surrounded by bars, pubs, and lounges in the Bayswater area. You’re also a short Tube ride from Soho and Camden — two of London’s most iconic nightlife districts. Perfect for a pre-show pint or a post-gig nightcap.

What People Say

Guests love the great location and proximity to transport. Many mention the charming garden views and the hotel’s value for money. Clean rooms, helpful staff, and quiet surroundings make it a favourite for travelers who want a reliable place to recharge.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms can be on the small side, and the furnishings are fairly basic — but if you're here for the music, not the minibar, it does the job. Some guests note that the building shows its age, though it adds to the London townhouse charm.

The Bottom Line

A budget-friendly, well-connected hotel perfect for concert-goers who want a peaceful night’s sleep after the show.

Overall, we had a good...

Liked: We liked the location (5-10 min walk to subway; cafes, pubs, food,express-groceries nearby, walking distance to Notting Hill and Hyde Park). The neighborhood was beautiful and felt very safe. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel—despite being old and worn—was very clean. While we were there, the old-fashioned room keys were swapped to a card system. We learned that this place has new owners, and they are working on renovating and updating the hotel. While we would not have minded to walk up stairs, especially since we were on the first floor and did not have much luggage, it was nice to be able to use an elevator at the end of a long day of walking around the city :-)
Disliked: Currently, this hotel does not have an option for breakfast. While an electric kettle and a few packs of tea and freeze dried coffee are provided, the rooms do not have a fridge to store any foods (such as specialty milk) that might spoil or keep drinks cool. A mini fridge in the rooms would make the stay so much more comfortable. However, the cafe Guillam Coffee House is a nice option only two blocks away. The mattresses and beds are not great, but ok for the price we paid. While we were there, the bedding was swapped from a sheet/blanket combo to a comfortable duvet. Unfortunately, since it was pretty warm, we almost preferred the former ;-)These were only little inconveniences- overall, it was good value for the price we paid. If the prices don’t go up too much due to the upgrades, we will be back!

Not recommended to stay at...

Liked: The location is great — really close to the Circle and Central lines, with plenty of options for eating out and buying groceries.
Disliked: I booked this hotel with a double bed and a single bed, as advertised. A few days after booking, I received a message saying they would try to provide that setup, but it wasn’t guaranteed. In the end, we received a room with three single beds, which was not appropriate for a family with a small baby. The staff suggested we push the beds together, which we did out of necessity, but they moved around constantly, and I spent the night worried my baby might fall between them.Other major issues:•Poor ventilation – Windows were very old and hard to open. A small fan was provided but not effective for the whole room.•No fridge in the room – We couldn’t store baby food or purées properly.•Elevator was broken 3 out of 4 days – We had to carry luggage and a stroller up/down the stairs.•Noise and building condition – The hotel smells musty, and you can hear every step from rooms above due to creaky wooden floors.•Uncomfortable sleep – Between the heat, smell, noise, and checking on the baby constantly, we hardly slept. We didn’t expect luxury, but we expected basic comfort and accurate information about the room. Unfortunately, this stay was very disappointing and stressful, especially with a baby. I would not recommend it for families

Good

Liked: I have stayed here a couple of times and have found it providing great value. The area is quiet and the rooms are clean and comfortable. There is a lift. The showers have good pressure, and hot water is available quickly.
Disliked: Only some minor things - keys have to be given to reception every time you leave the hotel, but I've never had any issues. Also there aren't enough sockets, especially near the bed.

It’s a 2-star hotel near...

Liked: Great location – only a 6-minute walk to Bayswater Tube Station, making it convenient to explore Central London. They also allow luggage storage after checkout, which is very helpful for travellers with late trains or flights.
Disliked: The bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the overall facilities were quite basic – suitable only for short stays if you’re not expecting much beyond the essentials.
