The Spotlight on Wardonia Hotel

Affordable comfort near King's Cross and key venues

Modern and no-frills, the Wardonia Hotel is all about location and convenience. Set in the heart of central London, it's just a 5-minute stroll from both King's Cross and St Pancras International stations, making it an ideal base for concert-goers who want to be close to the action without breaking the bank. The hotel offers clean, compact rooms with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom—perfect for a short city break.

Why Concert-goers love it

With multiple major music venues just a short tube or walking distance away, this hotel is all about easy access and round-the-clock transport options. King’s Cross and Euston Stations are nearby, meaning you can catch a late train or Underground after your show. The 24-hour front desk is a plus for guests arriving late or heading out early. While rooms are basic, they’re comfortable and quiet enough for a solid night's sleep after a loud gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central crash pad
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list band
  • Couples making a weekend of live music and city vibes
  • Fans seeking a quiet, no-fuss place to recharge
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who'd rather spend on tickets than hotels

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, there are plenty of walkable eateries around King's Cross and nearby Bloomsbury for pre- and post-show bites. Coffee and tea amenities in-room help with morning-after recovery, and late-night food options are easy to find in the area. Many cafés nearby offer breakfast service well into the late morning—perfect if your night ran late.

Nightlife Options

You're in a prime location for London nightlife. Explore the cocktail bars of Bloomsbury, the late-night pubs around Soho (just a short tube ride away), or chill with a pint in one of King’s Cross’s more relaxed spots. There's no live music on-site, but you'll be near plenty of venues hosting top acts almost every night of the week.

What People Say

Guests love the super-convenient location, especially for those arriving by train or heading to concerts. Reviews often mention the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the fact that it's a solid value for money in central London. While the rooms are on the smaller side, most visitors find them just right for a short stay focused on events and city exploration.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller and more basic side, so don’t expect luxury. There's also no lift, so packing light is a good idea, especially if you’re on an upper floor. If you're looking for plush amenities or round-the-clock food service, this may not be the place—but it nails the essentials.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a clean, central, and affordable place to crash after the show, Wardonia Hotel hits the right note.

Terribly hot, stay away from...

Liked: The location is good, just across King's Cross St Pancras International, which was great for us since we traveled to and from there. Room was tidy.
Disliked: The room was so tiny that it was hard for us (2) to stand up and move at the same time, let alone unpack our luggage. But the worst thing is how insanely hot the room was. We were there during summer and the room was so hot that felt like a sauna. Our room was on the top floor, which made it even hotter during day and night. Even with the fan, it was really hard to sleep and we couldn't even charge our phones sometimes because we would get a warning saying it was too hot. The bathroom is so small that you can barely fit, no need to say that also felt like a sauna and even the floor was boiling hot. Besides all that, I found the staff very unfriendly. The person who was there when I arrived kept saying that I didn't have a reservation and was so lazy to do his work - turns out the was looking at the wrong date. Additionally, Wifi was bad, my towels were old and with holes, and the stairs are really narrow and dangerous. The good location of this hotel is not worth all these problems. Maybe during the rest of the year it can be acceptable, but do yourself a favour and don't even think about staying there during summer.

Was great but now is...

Liked: This is the 3rd or 4th time I book this hotel, and the location will forever be my favorite part! The housekeeping team also did a great job by cleaning our room every day and changing our towels.
Disliked: As I said, this is not the first time I come here, but it definitely was not at all like any of the other times… some of the problems we faced:-We booked a double room that ended up being smaller than what 2 people can fit in (we had to take turns opening our bags to be able to access our things from how small the space was)-Usually the staff is very kind and helpful. This time the person that was there during most of our stay was extremely rude, dismissive, and not truthful. When we asked for a bigger room if possible, his reply was we don’t have bigger rooms (which is not true based on the different sizes of the rooms that I myself saw while staying here multiple times). We even asked for a fan for our room due to the heat and were told that as a hotel they don’t have fans (which is also not true as the 2nd room we booked had one and I always saw a fan in the rooms that I stayed in before). And when we told him this, he suggested that maybe previous tenants left their fan in the room, which is beyond ridiculous.-My friend stepped on a piece of broken glass in her room the day we checked in.

Bad

Disliked: Wardonia Hotel Kings Cross is without doubt one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.The rooms were extremely small and uncomfortable — it was difficult to move around at all. They lacked even the most basic furnishings, such as a wardrobe or hangers, so I had no choice but to keep my clothes on the floor or in my suitcase. The bathroom didn’t have a single shelf for toiletries, nor was there anywhere to hang a towel. On top of that, the window couldn’t be properly opened (only a small vent was available), which made the room incredibly stuffy and hot.My room was also shockingly dirty — I couldn’t even bring myself to have a cup of tea in there. To make matters worse, whatever detergent was used on the bedding was of such poor quality that I developed an allergic reaction all over my body. All in all, I have very unpleasant memories of my stay at this hotel. It was by far the worst part of my trip to London.
