The Spotlight on Wardonia Hotel

Affordable comfort near King's Cross and key venues

Modern and no-frills, the Wardonia Hotel is all about location and convenience. Set in the heart of central London, it's just a 5-minute stroll from both King's Cross and St Pancras International stations, making it an ideal base for concert-goers who want to be close to the action without breaking the bank. The hotel offers clean, compact rooms with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom—perfect for a short city break.

Why Concert-goers love it

With multiple major music venues just a short tube or walking distance away, this hotel is all about easy access and round-the-clock transport options. King’s Cross and Euston Stations are nearby, meaning you can catch a late train or Underground after your show. The 24-hour front desk is a plus for guests arriving late or heading out early. While rooms are basic, they’re comfortable and quiet enough for a solid night's sleep after a loud gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central crash pad
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list band
  • Couples making a weekend of live music and city vibes
  • Fans seeking a quiet, no-fuss place to recharge
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who'd rather spend on tickets than hotels

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, there are plenty of walkable eateries around King's Cross and nearby Bloomsbury for pre- and post-show bites. Coffee and tea amenities in-room help with morning-after recovery, and late-night food options are easy to find in the area. Many cafés nearby offer breakfast service well into the late morning—perfect if your night ran late.

Nightlife Options

You're in a prime location for London nightlife. Explore the cocktail bars of Bloomsbury, the late-night pubs around Soho (just a short tube ride away), or chill with a pint in one of King’s Cross’s more relaxed spots. There's no live music on-site, but you'll be near plenty of venues hosting top acts almost every night of the week.

What People Say

Guests love the super-convenient location, especially for those arriving by train or heading to concerts. Reviews often mention the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the fact that it's a solid value for money in central London. While the rooms are on the smaller side, most visitors find them just right for a short stay focused on events and city exploration.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller and more basic side, so don’t expect luxury. There's also no lift, so packing light is a good idea, especially if you’re on an upper floor. If you're looking for plush amenities or round-the-clock food service, this may not be the place—but it nails the essentials.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a clean, central, and affordable place to crash after the show, Wardonia Hotel hits the right note.

Very comfortable night in tiny...

Liked: Very convenient location for St Pancras and the British Library. Staff were friendly. Temperatures outside were in the 30s centigrade but I was given a basement room which was beautifully cool and I had an extremely comfortable night’s sleep, for which I was immensely grateful.
Disliked: The room was tiny, but I was expecting this. It’s what you get for this price in London.

Only if you have to.

Liked: It’s so close to St Pancras.
Disliked: They put us down in the dark damp dingy basement, so imagine all rooms are not so bad. A joke for £136. Luckily only staying to make an early train.

Remarkably small but good use...

Liked: Well appointed for St Pancras/Kings Cross. The staff on reception were welcoming and friendly, and all basic amenities were provided, including a hair dryer and kettle with tea/coffee station, even some hanging space with half a dozen hangers which is really impressive given the amazingly limited room size - think cabin on a 6 berth boat, almost! However, it was impeccably clean and in a good state of repair throughout, with shower gel and hand soap provided in the bathroom. Ultimately it was ideal for us as we arrived in the late evening, had dinner nearby, were in bed by 11pm, and then up and out for 4:30am to catch the first Eurostar of the day to the Netherlands - we picked it entirely for proximity relative to price. However, had we been spending more than a night it would have been far too small for our sanity, no matter how well-appointed they tried to make it.
Disliked: It’s even smaller than the measurements would suggest - there was just enough room for the bed with a foot between the wall and the bed end, but pushed right up against the window so someone has to genuinely climb over their bedmate to get in or out. We’re not big people by any means but we had to take it in turns to sit on the bed whilst the other got dressed. There’s also not a great deal of room to put cases or bags other than in the gap at the end of the bed or behind the door to the room if you’re settling down for the night. The bathroom door is unusually narrow by any scale and the bathroom also very small: if you’re on the bigger side you won’t going to be able to easily (or comfortably) access any of the facilities. The primary dislike, however, is the price: at over £130 for the night, the only reason it was worth our while - and therefore our cash - was the stone’s throw proximity to St. Pancras. For any other purpose we would have been really disappointed at the value for money.
