The Spotlight on Wake Inn

Affordable, No-Frills Stay Just Outside Downtown Raleigh

Situated just off I-440 and only 12 minutes from downtown Raleigh, Wake Inn is a simple, budget-friendly option for travelers who care more about catching the show than splurging on accommodations. With free Wi-Fi, on-site fitness center, and in-room basics like microwaves and fridges, this inn keeps things easy and wallet-friendly.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Wake Inn’s location makes it a smart pick for concert-goers looking to stay close to downtown without the downtown price tag. You’re just a short drive or ride-share from Raleigh’s biggest venues, and being slightly outside the city center means quieter nights for post-show recovery. Plus, the 24-hour front desk makes late-night check-ins no problem after an encore or two.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable crash pad after a show
  • Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list tour stop
  • Couples making a weekend of Raleigh’s live music scene
  • Fans wanting a quieter, low-key space away from the nightlife
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want to save on lodging

Food and Drink Options

While the Wake Inn doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, each room includes a microwave and fridge, ideal for leftovers or snacks after the show. Vending machines are available for late-night cravings, and being close to downtown means plenty of local eateries are just a short drive or delivery away.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself is quiet, it’s within easy reach of downtown Raleigh’s vibrant nightlife, with bars, clubs, and live music venues just minutes away. If you’re heading back late, the hotel’s accessible location makes ride-sharing or driving back simple and quick.

What People Say

Guests consistently highlight the convenient location and affordable prices as top perks. Reviewers also appreciate the friendly 24/7 front desk staff and clean, basic rooms with useful amenities like microwaves and mini-fridges—perfect for short stays centered around an event or concert.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t a luxury spot—some guests mention that the décor is dated and the property could use a little refreshing. But for the price and location, most agree it’s a solid deal for a short stay.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a simple, budget-friendly stay near Raleigh’s concert scene, Wake Inn offers just what you need—no frills, but no fuss either.

We won’t return.

Liked: Location on New Bern Avenue.
Disliked: Holes in the walls. Faucet assembly on sink was loose. Shower had a very weird handle-adjuster which did not work at first and had to be fixed. No lamps on the bedside tables. Had to ask for a hair dryer. Smelled of very strong pungent cleaning fluid. Towels were very small.
