Liked: The hotel is conveniently located about a mile away from Petco Park. It was a quick walk. You are close to restaurants and night life. The hotel staff was amazing. Heather and Jennifer as well as the manager (I didn't catch his name) were super friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. The room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfy

A serious and traumatic personal...
Disliked: During our stay at the hotel, we experienced a personal safety event that damage that was very traumatic for us especially for my wife and children and for me as well. This event tainted our entire stay at the hotel that was otherwise very pleasant and accommodating. We stayed in the hotel for three nights. During the first night at around 01:30 at night a stranger entered our room (probably intersected) got undressed and tried get into bed. I don't need to elaborate how traumatic this experience was to my children and wife and for me that I physically had to force him out of the room. After a sleepless night, we reported this event to the hotel staff in the morning. They were very apologetic and took personal responsibility for the event. We considered switching hotels after the traumatic experience we had, but this would have ruined our trip plan to San Diego more than it was already ruined, therefore we decided to stay at the hotel. We reported this to the hotel staff who were very apologetic and took personal responsibility for the events. They even offered some compensation (wine bottle or a cold drink for the kids) and promised they would pass the details of this terrible incident on to their management. To my disappointment we received no formal apology, reference or compensation from the hotel management or the Marriot chain as I would have expected to happen after such an unusual event. Is this the safety and security standard that the Marriott chain in general and specifically the TownePlace Suites by Marriott San Diego Downtown holds and adopts for its conduct? I am appalled not only by the serious incident itself, but also by the conduct or rather the lack of attention on the part of the TownePlace Suites by Marriott San Diego Downtown hotel and the Marriot chain.
