Torch Lite Inn at the Beach Boardwalk

i will stay again.

Liked: value, clean, close to boardwalk cameras for safety, ice my ice chest
Disliked: parking was difficult but what isnt. space for my truck all the time.

Cleanliness was the main issue...

Liked: The location was a 5 min walk from the boardwalk which is nice so you dont have to pay/look for parking. When staying in santa cruz you either can either stay in a nice hotel for a steep price or try to find an inn/motel that looks renovated or clean relying on the photos and reviews. For the price of this place you kinda get what you pay for but based on some of the photos and reviews i had slightly higher expectations.
Disliked: As we were unpacking our stuff, we noticed the room wasnt as clean as it appeared. It seemed that all the towels werent replaced because they werent folded on the rack, hair was left on some of the towels and in bathtub, in addition to stained towels. When we discovered this we went to the lobby to ask for new towels which we were just handed more stained/questionable looking towels. This caused me to be uneasy about other factors of cleanliness in the room such as the sheets on the bed. Lastly, there was no hand soap provided in the room like almost all other hotels provide at the minimum. So we went to the store to supply ourselves with hand soap, bed sheets, and towels to make our stay a little more comfortable.

i think it was decent...

Liked: i liked how the rooms looked very nice. very similar to the pictures. maintenance actually came and cleaned up which is very surprising to me comparing past hotels i’ve stayed at
Disliked: i didn’t like how there was still some stains in my room. also the parking was very tight and limited. small detail but it would’ve been nice to have a full body mirror along with the sink mirror

Disliked: Pretty dark if you want at least some privacy, except the window (which you shade due to privacy) there is no natural light source
