one of my worst nights...

Liked: With multiple underground stations in a walkable distance. The location has to be the hotel's strongest point. As this is a very hard thing to change it seems like a good point to have. Unfortunately however it is only the only unequivocally good point i can think off.
Disliked: The hotel is dated and in dire need of a refurbishment. There is no ventilation to speak off. Sure it says no aircon on the listing but ventilation still seems like a good thing to have. There were also buttons on the shower missing in my room. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone i cared about. The room has stale air and in summer it got extremly hot. The bed was also very uncomfortable.

Convenient, clean, friendly and great...

Liked: Location was fantastic. Safe and pretty quiet (for central London). I had a good sized room with windows that opened (not guaranteed in London). Staff were very friendly.
Disliked: Unfortunately I traveled during the heat wave. There is no air con in the bedrooms (I did know that beforehand). There was a fan in my room but it was very noisy so I couldn’t use it overnight. But it was unseasonably hot so this would not stop me staying here again.

Great value small hotel in...

Liked: Perfect location in London. Quiet street in Bayswater, yet very close to both a Tube station and Paddington.Great breakfast buffet every morning. Well appointed and immaculate common spaces and ensuite rooms.Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful.A great value for accommodations in central London!
Disliked: In the heat of summer the fact that the rooms do not have air conditioning made sleeping a little uncomfortable but the window cracked open and the fan helped.Besides, air conditioning in the rooms would have added significantly to the cost of the accommodation, I'm sure. The only other quibble I had was the bed and pillows could be a little more comfortable.

Good value for the location

Liked: The location was good because i chose to stay there. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
Disliked: The breakfast rolls were far too small to make a sandwich with, i asked for a bacon and egg roll and it all came seperately and the rolls were made for a hobbitt! The carpet in the room i stayed in was lifting up, and the draw on the dressing table was falling off.

Comfortable, well run, friendly and...

Liked: The Phoenix is a straightforward, well run hotel and, unlike many hotels, has single and small double rooms at a very good price for central London. The rooms are small but certainly fine for the cost. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with a good shower, hairdryer, shower and hair gel and tissues. There is a coffee/tea tray. Only air conditioning is missing but my room had a decent size electric fan which was fine, even in the latest heatwave. The location is excellent, being close to Paddington Station, Hyde Park, 2 underground lines and plenty of food shops and cafes. It is in a quiet turning but close to a busy street so feels safe to walk in the evening. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are other bonuses - a simple breakfast is usually included and check in is at 1pm. The hotel will normally look after bags before check in and after check out if needed.

Passable

Liked: Location was ok.
Disliked: Room did not have AC. Only a tiny fan. Stuff told me the entire hotel does not have AC. Room was very very small. You can barely move inside.
