Overall very pleasant stay, I...
Liked: Polite staff, very well mannered, helpful. Comfortable bed, new furniture. Cleanliness level was very good, towels very nice and soft. Bathroom was very clean.
Disliked: Carpets have seen better days, you can see their age in the room. Even though recently refurbished - you can clearly see the skirting boards, architraves and doors are old.

Disappointing
Disliked: The single room was tiny and unbearably hot, even with the window wide open.

Very good
Liked: The location was excellent for the purpose of our visit (London Marathon). The hotel was very clean. The staff were very polite, professional and friendly.
Disliked: Breakfast was poor. When we checked in, we asked if it would be possible to have an earlier breakfast on Sunday as we were participating in the marathon. The receptionist said we could take a croissant away to have!! Another staff member overheard and said he would arrange an earlier breakfast as other guests were staying for the marathon also. He had a list of room numbers and their requested times, but the receptionist didn't seem to be aware of this.We actually bought fruit and porridge pots from the Tesco in the local High Street to eat in our room on the Sunday morning as we saw that there was no porridge on offer at breakfast when we ate breakfast on the Saturday morning. The breakfast room was very cramped, too many tables that were far too small. People were nearly sitting on top of each other. There were cups and saucers on the tables, but there were mugs at the coffee machine - tables were too small for both! There was no flow to breakfast. People were wandering around from one part of the buffet to the next, and the queue for the coffee machine had nowhere to go, adding to the overcrowded feeling.Breakfast was not an enjoyable experience, and we found a local cafe to breakfast in on the Monday morning. We paid for breakfast on 3 mornings but ate breakfast on one of the mornings. The room was very cold, we had a room at the front of the building and the windows appeared to be single glazed. There was no heating control in the room or extra blankets. We found what looked like a heater in the wardrobe, but nothing but cold air came out of it.

Liked: Great location, newly refurbished, clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was good.
Disliked: My room was extremely hot so it took a while for it to cool down.
