Decent hotel in centre of...

Liked: Very centrally located hotel with great bus and tube transport links. My (upgraded) double room was bright and light on the top floor, with windows to open and sky glimpses. Because it was summer, pubs nearby were busy so I could hear partying in the distance but it was fine if I closed the window. Building is old, probably heritage listed, so despite the regular price it doesn't feel luxurious, just comfortable and similar to many UK/Irish older hotels. Bed was very comfortable, great linen and room and bathroom spotless. Carpet was old and I wouldn't recommend going barefoot since it's Europe and guests probably wear shoes inside. Breakfast was very average but fine for 1-2 days. Some staff very friendly and some not, hit and miss. If you can get it for a good price, it's worth staying.

Would stay here again based...

Liked: Hotel was in prime location for me to explore all around town. Beautiful looking building on the outside, with very friendly staff on inside and clean facilities.
Disliked: Felt a little older in fashion in guestroom corridors, but not in an old dirty way or anything

Great location, great staff and...

Liked: Room - provided what I expected i.e. comfortable beds (love a mattress topper) tv, coffee & tea facilities, good shower and above all it was clean. Staff - lovely and friendly and we got a call from reception, shortly after reaching our room, just checking that all was ok. I've never experienced that before and I was impressed.Staff in restaurant - lovely and when I asked if there were any vegetarian sausages, (because there were none in the buffet) they took the time and trouble to cook 2 veggie sausages especially for me. I was amazed that they bothered to do that. And I believe it was one of the chefs (or one of the kitchen helpers) who I spoke to, who bothered to cook those vegetarian sausages. Over and above customer service.
Disliked: A couple of areas needed painting/maintenance e.g. the bathroom skirtings, but overall, it was in good order.
