Overall nice, very friendly staff and good location for my purposes.

Liked: Staff were very welcoming and friendly, made me feel welcome and like I'd known them for years. Vibe was nice and warm, I've missed this. Location was great for my purposes. Room was suitable for needs and would probably stay again if on my own.
Disliked: Bed felt like it had a weird plastic under-sheet on it that made me hot during the night and the mattress felt badly dipped, felt like I was going to roll out. First world problems I know. Still managed to sleep ok.

Disappointed after an excellent previous visit

Liked: Excellent location, nicely decorated in the public areas.
Disliked: Stayed in 2022 and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. Sadly nothing like as good in 2023. Eating on Saturday evening, very little of the menu was available, the meals that were, could not be faulted. Bar staff were stumped by a simple cocktail and that supplied was very much wrong. On leaving, no staff were on site, no way of leaving room keys or checking out. The breakfast in2022 was exceptional, in 2023 some stale fruit and a mix your own pot of porridge was all we could get, left out the evening before.

Pleasant

Liked: Food - dinner and breakfast - was good. Bar had friendly ambience. Service was fine.
Disliked: Room was hot and stuffy - unable to open windows as locks present. Room facilities were basic, but maybe par for the room cost. Shower facilities needed a good clean.
