Great location, slightly out of...

Liked: Full of character. A few different seating areas downstairs which felt cosy. Lovely outdoor space, perfect if sunny! Lots of parking.
Disliked: The bedrooms were a bit dated and needed some TLC. Dressing table needed a lick of paint. It looked scratched and worn rather than ‘chic distressed’! Shower screen did not stop the water leaking over floor.

Our experience was enhanced by...

Liked: Excellent choice for breakfast with good quality produce. Location of hotel was perfect - on the Burghley estate but within walking distance of the town centre.
Disliked: Our room (6) was rather small for a double and although adequate for 1 night the lack of drawers and hanging space would be a problem for longer stays.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: The room was lovely and large with a really big bathroom. The feel of the building was classy even though the room was dingy and scruffy.
Disliked: There were marks on the walls where pictures had not been replaced, chipped and flaking walls in the bathroom and the furniture was scratched and very old. The wallpaper was very scruffy. The window frames were badly painted and very rusty. The cold tap over the bath was not working at all and i had to use cold water from the shower when running a bath. The place definitely needs a good facelift and a significant amount of money spending on it in order to bring it up to scratch. Having spent £438 for two nights in a De Luxe room we were expecting something far superior to this. This was definitely not De Luxe.
