The Westgate Hotel

Liked: Turndown service was especially nice. Very quiet hotel. Could not even hear others in their rooms. The decor may be outdated but it was very clean.
Disliked: Room service food was not enjoyable. Service was excellent but food was not great and it was cold.

The Westgate seems a bit long in the tooth, and could maybe use an update. My wife liked the "frilly" element, while I thought it seemed wildly outdated. Too much so to be considered as a pleasant representation of the charm of a certain bygone era. It was like being at my grandmother's home when I was quite young. All that was missing were the plastic slip covers on the furniture. Also, maybe they could do more to ensure that all services are functional. If you do stay here, be prepared for lots of outside noise.

Liked: The hotel was clean and had a convenient location.
Disliked: The staff were unable to help with a reservation in the hotel restaurant, and didn't offer any alternate suggestions. There was one ATM in the entire hotel, which was out of service. The bed, while not the worst, was not particularly comfortable either.

Liked: The rooms were beautiful. The service was stellar. Great location.
Disliked: The pool is under construction so we were disappointed in that.

One of the finest hotels...

Liked: Staff were exceptionally helpful. Hotel was beautiful, room was well appointed with full amenities.
Disliked: Complimentary coffee service only ran to 6:30 AM.

Exceptional

Elegant Hotel in Downtown San...

Liked: The location was fantastic and was the main reason I booked this hotel. The rooftop pool was amazing and I spent 2 days relaxing on the cushioned pool chairs. The decor was beautiful in the hotel - Fancy chandeliers and beautiful French style furniture.
Disliked: The parking garage attendants weren't very helpful. We had money ready to tip but they didn't have a cart for our luggage and he didn't seem very eager to help us get things out of our trunks. Not the best first impression for a place I am spending $450 a night on. Also, the communication between the front desk and the garage related to parking fees wasn't the best. I paid for my daughter's parking fees and they gave her a hard time when she was trying to leave the parking garage. Seems like they need to get a better system so the front desk and garage can communicate more efficiently.

Liked: Fabulous location, on bus and trolley lines with stops just across the road!

It was great!

Liked: The bed and bathtub! Very comfortable and large room!
Disliked: The train/MTS TROLLEY blows every 10 mins even at night and the property is a little dated but overall I’d stay there again.
