The Spotlight on The Wellington Hotel

Classic London Charm Steps from the Stage

Located just a minute’s walk from Waterloo Station and two minutes from the London Eye, The Wellington Hotel delivers a classic British pub vibe with modern comforts. With its unbeatable central location and cozy rooms, it’s a great base for exploring the city—and catching your favorite artist live.

The rooms are simple but comfortable, featuring en-suite showers, flat-screen TVs, and tea/coffee-making facilities. The on-site pub brings the charm, serving up traditional food and drinks in a warm, welcoming setting.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is a dream for music fans thanks to its immediate access to Waterloo Station, making late-night Tube rides after a gig super easy. Many top venues are within walking distance or a quick ride away. The pub downstairs stays buzzing late, and the rooms are surprisingly quiet for such a central spot. Late check-in from 15:00 gives you time to settle in before the show, and the 11:00 check-out lets you sleep in after a big night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to grab a pint before or after the show
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list concert
  • Couples making a weekend of it in London
  • Fans seeking a quieter recovery space with a central location
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

The Wellington’s on-site pub is a standout, serving classic homemade dishes for lunch and dinner. While there's no 24/7 room service, the pub stays open late for drinks and meals. A varied breakfast menu is available each morning, including full English, American pancakes, and a cold buffet—perfect after a late night out. Step outside and you’ll find plenty of walkable eateries nearby too.

Nightlife Options

Downstairs, the on-site pub keeps the good times rolling with live sports screenings and a buzzing local crowd. While it’s not a live music venue itself, you’re within walking distance of bars, lounges, and clubs around South Bank and Waterloo. Plus, you can enjoy traditional cask ales and premium lagers without even leaving the building.

What People Say

Guests love the location—steps from transport and attractions—and the friendly pub atmosphere. Reviews highlight the comfortable beds, good breakfast options, and helpful staff. Many also mention the hotel's character and old-school charm as a unique plus in Central London.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side, and being above a pub, there can be some noise early in the evening. There's no lift, so pack light if you're headed upstairs. But most guests agree the character and convenience far outweigh these small quirks.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a gig in London and want a budget-friendly, central stay with local charm, The Wellington Hotel is a top pick for music lovers.

Clean room, great location, lovely...

Liked: Great location. Large, comfortable room. Had everything I needed for my stay and appreciated the little extras. Friendly staff. Shower was lush.
Disliked: Really hot and stuffy, even with both fans on. Bright green light in the ceiling created a glow all night that couldn’t be turned off. Could hear banging doors and thudding up and down the stairs all night, which made the bed shake.

Historic hotel, perfect location next...

Liked: Nice basic room, even a fridge with water, beer, and snacks! Coffee and hot pot, and a nice fan to help cool the room. Good view of the station. Great staff, and a fantastic free breakfast in a historic hotel/pub.

Great breakfast & location, shame...

Liked: The only good things were the location and the breakfast
Disliked: Not clean, HIDEOUSLY hot, no air conditioning, no window that would open in the bedroom, just a fan that blew around the hot air. Myself and my mother (late 60’s) were placed on the top floor. A lot of stairs and they were FLITHY

Disliked: Noisy street. Quiet when windows closed but due to warm weather needed them open for fresh air.

Great location and good value...

Liked: The hotel is perfectly located outside Waterloo Station. It's a lovely old pub and the staff were super. The room itself was adequate, proper lighting and storage space: the bathroom was updated, lots of nice towels. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and poached eggs were perfect. Great Italian restaurant around the corner.
Disliked: The rooms are up narrow stairs (dilapidated) and through a very heavy fire door. Could use a lick of paint but the building is old and that's part of it.
