The Spotlight on The Wellington Hotel

Classic London Charm Steps from the Stage

Located just a minute’s walk from Waterloo Station and two minutes from the London Eye, The Wellington Hotel delivers a classic British pub vibe with modern comforts. With its unbeatable central location and cozy rooms, it’s a great base for exploring the city—and catching your favorite artist live.

The rooms are simple but comfortable, featuring en-suite showers, flat-screen TVs, and tea/coffee-making facilities. The on-site pub brings the charm, serving up traditional food and drinks in a warm, welcoming setting.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is a dream for music fans thanks to its immediate access to Waterloo Station, making late-night Tube rides after a gig super easy. Many top venues are within walking distance or a quick ride away. The pub downstairs stays buzzing late, and the rooms are surprisingly quiet for such a central spot. Late check-in from 15:00 gives you time to settle in before the show, and the 11:00 check-out lets you sleep in after a big night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to grab a pint before or after the show
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list concert
  • Couples making a weekend of it in London
  • Fans seeking a quieter recovery space with a central location
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

The Wellington’s on-site pub is a standout, serving classic homemade dishes for lunch and dinner. While there's no 24/7 room service, the pub stays open late for drinks and meals. A varied breakfast menu is available each morning, including full English, American pancakes, and a cold buffet—perfect after a late night out. Step outside and you’ll find plenty of walkable eateries nearby too.

Nightlife Options

Downstairs, the on-site pub keeps the good times rolling with live sports screenings and a buzzing local crowd. While it’s not a live music venue itself, you’re within walking distance of bars, lounges, and clubs around South Bank and Waterloo. Plus, you can enjoy traditional cask ales and premium lagers without even leaving the building.

What People Say

Guests love the location—steps from transport and attractions—and the friendly pub atmosphere. Reviews highlight the comfortable beds, good breakfast options, and helpful staff. Many also mention the hotel's character and old-school charm as a unique plus in Central London.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side, and being above a pub, there can be some noise early in the evening. There's no lift, so pack light if you're headed upstairs. But most guests agree the character and convenience far outweigh these small quirks.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a gig in London and want a budget-friendly, central stay with local charm, The Wellington Hotel is a top pick for music lovers.

Very poor

Liked: The Staff tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The cook in the morning absolutely made a brilliant breakfast. As Pubs go . Food and drink great. The motel side needs a lot of work
Disliked: Super steep stairs when carrying bags. Rooms old and tired. Also it didn't help when a major gas leak occurred on the first night , and we were moved to another motel. In the defence of the staff. We were upgraded to a far superior hotel for the other 2 nights.

I won’t stay again.

Liked: Breakfast was good, location was great. Hotel and room sucked.
Disliked: Is a bad old hotel and small bad room next to the train tracks. Every minute train passed by non stop. The value isn’t worth it the price. The pictures isn’t the same as reality.

Next to station with good...

Liked: The breakfast was great, nicely cooked, much better than a lot of restaurants. The staff in the morning were very friendly. Location was good that it's opposite the station, which also means you will hear the station noise clearly.
Disliked: You can hear outside very clearly, anyone talking in the corridor or downstairs, even with all the windows closed. They provided 3M earplugs which were helpful, but still can hear the noise. It was very warm at night that you can barely sleep. Not during heat wave, it was just a normal summer day. There's a large fan, after turning on, it's all the dust around the room.
