Hotel Description
The Star and Garter is set in the heart of the market town of Andover. The hotel dates back to the 1700s and offers a hot and cold buffet breakfast and free WiFi. The hotel maintains its Georgian façade and rooms are set in the former stables and coach house encircling the courtyard as well as over two floors in the main building. Each room has private bathroom facilities with a power shower bath and complimentary toiletries. There is a flat-screen TV hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities in all rooms. There are alcoholic beverages and soft drinks available which can be enjoyed in our enclosed courtyard. This Hampshire town lies around 20 miles north of the beautiful New Forest National Park. Newbury Basingstoke and the pretty cathedral city of Salisbury and Winchester can all be reached within 30 minutes' drive. Stonehenge is within a 20-minute drive. Free parking is provided at the rear of the hotel.

Very good

Liked: Easy to park. Reception very welcoming. Hot water, comfy bed. Fan in room. Very quiet even with window open.
Disliked: Nothing really

Great value for money with...

Liked: The staff were lovely, the room was a great size and the bathroom was perfect. Everything was clean and good value for money.
Disliked: Nothing I didn't like. The only slightly negative thing, which isn't the fault of the hotel, was the noise from the Wetherspoons nearby, but it wasn't too terrible, even with the windows open.

Excellent stay in Room 101...

Liked: Did not have breakfast £12 every day for a breakfast that I did not need seems a waste for me! Everything was good about my stay, nice staff, clean, the room was good though I believe being upgraded this winter.
Disliked: No lift The courtyard entry needed some care, but I understand will get this next week!

Clean and convenient and with...

Liked: The Star & Garter was a good place to stay in Andover for our trip to visit places around Newbury and Winchester and Salisbury - great location. We received a warm welcome.
Disliked: Our room, on the second floor was very hot so we were pleased that an air conditioner unit had been provided. If we were to come to your part of the world again we would be happy to stay in The Star & Garter but would ask for a room not on the second floor.

Short stay in the centre...

Liked: Centre of town and VFM in comparison to others I looked at.
Disliked: I struggled to find the car park (might have been my fault - was there a post code in the web? If not, ask before arrival otherwise you’ll do a few laps around Andover.

The room was too small...

Liked: I like this hotel for it location and have stayed a few times.
Disliked: Some rooms are lovely and some are not and you just don’t know what you are going to get.
