The Red Lion Hotel dates back to the 13th century and features wooden beams hand-carved by Carmelite monks. The inn is located in Whittlesford Bridge just 2 miles from Duxford and offers elegant rooms with Hypnos beds. The individually designed rooms have a flat-screen TV. All rooms have a private modern bathroom with a bath or shower. The Red Lion Hotel is located just 6 miles south of historic Cambridge and 8 miles from Saffron Walden. The nearby Whittlesford Parkway Rail Station offers rail services to Cambridge and London. The Duxford Imperial War Museum is only 1.5 miles away and Newmarket races is only 20 minutes by car. The Restaurant at The Red Lion is currently closed on Saturday and Sundays. There is Bar and Lounge service over at the Holiday Inn Express property next door.- The Restaurant at The Red Lion is open Saturday nights 5-10pm and Sunday from 12-4pm Please take into account: No elevator to rooms accessed through stairs only if you have mobility issues please contact the hotel prior to booking.

Liked: The breakfast was in a little cafe that formed part of the hotel, the staff was really polite and the breakfast was very nice
Disliked: The hotel and area had poor wifi / internet access in areas

Great hotel and pub in...

Liked: Great quirky pub and hotel. Room was clean. Breakfast was good. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. We would definitely return. Great location with easy train access to Cambridge.
Disliked: No air conditioning, it was extremely hot at night.

Would not stay again especially...

Liked: Disappointing on so many Levels.
Disliked: Despite following the guidance regarding parking our car only on their car park, on day of departure I brought my carfrom car park and parked in front of the Red Lion. This was to bring our luggage to the car and hand back room keys (I am disabled). Two weeks later I received a parking fine of £100 for the 21 minutes the car was parked there.Staff slow to take breakfast Order as only one to mind the outdoor sales and guests. The room we received was not as depicted in advertising.

Apart from shortcomings on room...

Liked: Dinner and breakfast were very good. Chef Phillip is ex-Michellin Star chef and very good
Disliked: Room service. Room was not made-up overnight. This was discussed with the owner, Alex, who is aware of the staffing problem and is taking steps to sort it out.

Excellent experience and will definitely...

Liked: We ate breakfast and dinner there as well and the food was impressive, the staff were excellent, very friendly.The rooms are very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed
Disliked: The stairs from the ground to the first floor were very steep and the handrail could do with being a little more substantial
