The Spotlight on The Priory Hotel

Old-World Charm Meets Music Weekend Comfort in Pittsburgh

The Priory Hotel is a historic boutique hotel tucked into Pittsburgh’s North Side, just across the river from downtown. Housed in a restored Benedictine monastery, it blends European elegance with cozy, modern touches. Think courtyard gardens, a crackling wood-burning fireplace, and guest rooms with city or garden views — all within easy reach of the city’s best live music venues.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is a solid pick for concert-goers thanks to its location just over a mile from major venues like PNC Park and stages near the Cultural District. On Fridays and Saturdays, take advantage of the free shuttle service that runs within a 2-mile radius — perfect for a night out without the parking headache. It’s also peacefully quiet at night, making it ideal for recovering after a loud show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a unique and affordable stay
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime show
  • Couples who want a romantic, historic setting after a night out
  • Fans seeking a quiet, post-concert retreat
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want style

Food and Drink Options

Start your day (or your recovery) with a complimentary grab n' go breakfast — ideal for late risers after a night of dancing. While there's no full-service restaurant on-site, you're just a short walk or shuttle ride from downtown Pittsburgh’s vibrant dining scene. Several restaurants and bars are within easy reach for pre-show bites or post-concert cravings.

Nightlife Options

While The Priory doesn’t have live music in-house, its location puts you near some of the city’s most iconic nightspots. From craft cocktail lounges to buzzing clubs in the Strip District and live music bars near the Cultural District, your night doesn’t have to end after the encore.

What People Say

  • Guests rave about the historic atmosphere and beautiful courtyard
  • Appreciated for its clean, spacious rooms and helpful 24/7 staff
  • The free shuttle is a major plus for concert-goers and explorers alike
  • Reviewers frequently mention how peaceful and quiet the hotel is despite its central location

Areas for Improvement

Some guests have noted that the hotel doesn’t have an elevator, so if you’re carrying lots of gear or have mobility concerns, request a lower floor. Also, while charming, the décor may feel a little old-school to travelers who prefer ultra-modern touches.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a unique, quiet, and convenient spot to crash after the show, The Priory Hotel hits the right notes for concert-goers in Pittsburgh.

Wonderful!

Liked: Loved the historic building and grounds. The staff were all friendly and courteous. The breakfast was made to order at the time you wanted to eat.
Disliked: The bathroom was on the small side but that is just nitpicking.

Loved this historic charming property...

Liked: A beautiful old hotel close to the waterfront, Andy Warhol Museum and PNC ballpark. It had the charm of an old manor, but was up to date on the actual room and amenities. Staff were helpful and you could order exactly what you wanted for breakfast ahead of time and designate when you wanted to pick it up. Although the immediate neighborhood looked a bit sketchy, I had no problem walking in all directions.
Disliked: Allow the hotel itself is charming, the immediate neighborhood is not. It wasn't dangerous, but just a bit unappealing.
