Midweek break in Buxton Palace...

Liked: Our room was spacious clean and warm.There was plenty of coffee and tea and a coffee maker as well as a kettle.Lots of complementary toiletries and a shower as well as a bath.. Breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty of choice from cereal to full English.
Disliked: There were no negatives regarding our stay

Exceptional

Liked: Hotel is in a great location. The room itself was v clean. The price was very reasonable indeed.
Disliked: Nothing

Fantastic stay for the discounted...

Liked: Room was great value for money. Slept well on bed although mattress was quite hard. Join in centre of double bed (two singles joined) was very lumpy. We really enjoyed our stay for the discounted price we paid. If we had paid full price I would not have been as happy as décor was showing signs of age. This hotel will need some refurbishment at some point during the 5 years. Definitely recommend staying here if you can get a discounted price from their normal rates. Breakfast was superb! Live piano player during evening drinks was a lovely touch too. He only plays a couple of days at weekend though so check when he's on!
Disliked: Bed was not that comfy although I slept well. Room decor needs attention

Disappointed

Liked: The reception area and bar and stairs
Disliked: . BUT then you get to the bedroom, they are very outdated. The bathroom door wouldn't stop closed. There was no easy access to a socket to plug the kettle in. The wardrobe doors didn't close right as the hanger were wider than the wardrobe. It really needs some money and TLC spending on the rooms

Liked: Great hotel, very grand
Disliked: Our room was very hot and found it uncomfortable and didn’t sleep very well. We turned the radiator off but there were large pipes in the room which were very hot all the time.

A great place to stay.

Liked: Clean and spacious.
Disliked: The layout of the room was a bit odd . TV in side corner rather than in front but unusual for the hotel. Very clean and staff friendly.

Horrendous

Liked: Breakfast was great and location was good
Disliked: We were put in a disabled room with no windows therefore no natural light. No toilet lid and disabled handrails all over the place. Shaving mirror was on opposite wall to the sink, and sink was hardly big enough to get my hands in. The room was not cleaned for the whole duration of our stay and therefore tea/sugar/biscuits were not replenished at all during our stay. There was a green flashing light that we had to get the manager to cover up as this prevented us sleeping. And finally we had to return to the reception on 4 occassions to reprogrammed our door key before we could get into the room [4 separate occassions]. We complained to the deputy manager [Ewan] who advised that we should not have been given that room. This was supposed to be a surprise 65th birthday present to my wife. I have already sent a letter of complaint to to hotel and requested a full refund. NOT HAPPY.
