The Orchid Hotel

A lovely hotel, a minutes...

Liked: Lovely, helpful staff, Seb was a smiley face to great us with a very warm welcome. We were upgraded to a suite as we were celebrating our anniversary, it was also our very 1st visit to Bournemouth. The room was on the top floor but it was amazing. Bedroom was not overbig as it was shaped into the window, inner entrance with wardrobe, iron & board & suitcase rack. Breakfast was excellent all though plates for hot food were cold. I asked for a hot plate, no problems. The Britannia hotel round the corner houses immigrants, they were no issue & we felt totally safe in Bournemouth.
Disliked: Nothing with the hotel it was perfect.

Smart, comfortable hotel

Liked: My 2nd stay at the Orchid. Smart, comfortable hotel well positioned in the town. Efficient, personable staff. Clean, well designed rooms. Very good buffet breakfast.
Disliked: Can't think of anything.

Good but not great

Liked: Location very good, room spacious and breakfast was nice
Disliked: Parking charge was a joke, empty bar all the time which our room was directly above but still played music most of the night which came up into the room, curtains had massive holes in letting sunlight through in the early morning.

Disliked: Blinds in the room, didn’t block out light

A little disappointed.

Liked: Good location and close proximity to the beach. Could walk to shops and restaurants too.
Disliked: Booking via Booking.com meant the treatment was different as opposed to booking direct with the hotel (got charged for the car park despite it having ample space, didn’t get rooms serviced daily) which I think is wrong. Surely the service should be the same?? The cleanliness in the room could have been better and it seemed old and in need of updating (odd smell in the room, stained carpets, none of the bathroom windows opened)

Would not return to this...

Passable

Liked: Booked a twin room, but given a double wirh the shower over bath, ugh. Complained and was given a tiny twin that could be sold as a single. Not happy with the room, although it had a walking shower. Lift still not fixed, that's outrageous for a hotel and what it charges there is no help to take things upstairs with no lift.
