We ate at the hotel restaurant. The bed was comfortable. The room was a nice size and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We valet parked our car and it was taken good care of. We would stay at the Wyndham again.

Liked: We had a nice experience at the hotel.

It's a very old hotel but it is in a fantastic location for Manhattan. The price is exceptional for a NYC hotel and it is a clean, safe place to stay. Rooms were a little small but wouldn't stop me from staying again. Friendly staff.

Liked: Great location; nice price and clean.
Disliked: Small rooms.

Very pleased overall and will...

Liked: The warm welcoming every time we walked in the lobby. Seeing the history of the hotel on display. The location was a perfect selection for walking to the subway.
Disliked: The bathroom sink as well as the tub not draining during use. I know it?s NY and somewhat impossible for a Hotel, but smokers hanging out right by the entrance.

Exceptional

Liked: It is located right in the middle of eighth ave, and as such, in a perfect location. Both the train and bus stations are very close. With the Penn Station only a couple of hundred metres away, getting to JFK airport is a breeze. Train to Jamaica Station and then the skyway to your terminals.Very accommodating staff who allowed us an early check in.Rooms are dated, but still very comfortable.
Disliked: It is a popular and busy hotel, although in honesty, possibly adds to the experience.

Not recommended

Disliked: 1. The smallest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel, the sort of cramped 4x4 foot space you get on a second class cruise ship. Not acceptable. 2. The price quoted by booking.com is NOT the price you will pay for this room. Instead, the hotel will add $37 per night extra as ?facilities charge?. This is a deceitful practice on the part of this hotel, and consumers could should stand up to this abusive procedure. The quoted price should be the actual price, not padded with irrelevant charges. In fact, the New Yorker has NO special facilities beyond a standard tourist hotel. Stay elsewhere.

Our Best Time in NYC

Liked: It was our first time in New York and our stay in New Yorker hotel made our trip one of the best. Check in process was easy, we came in very early on our flight to LA, We got our room around 10am with an $80 fee for early check in which is ok. We book a queen suite and we were upgraded to a room with Balcony. Excellent view of the city.. Awesome Deal! Location wise this is perfect as it sits in Midtown Manhattan, you can walk from here to Times Square, Empire State, and even in High Line. You are next to Penn Station that can take you to lower and uptown Manhattan. We were not familiar in Subway but it's easy to learn. The place is busy but anywhere in midtown is busy specially in Spring and Summer. The staff are all very welcoming, with smile on their faces every time you see them. They clean our room everyday. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your upcoming stay in NYC!
Disliked: $5 fee to hold you luggage

Good location, hidden costs.

Liked: Centrally located. Friendly staff except the timeshare sales representatives.
Disliked: Hidden costs like the facilities fee which they charge over $30 a night. We didn?t use it. Only the WiFi which we had to log into and register every 24 hrs. The time share approaches with the, ?oh we have a welcome gift for you? crap. Beware!!
